What Is The Truth About Shedding From Med Reaction

I posted in another thread about my battle with hairloss. I have been on finasteride 1mg everyday for 20+ years. I never shed. I still receded but not to the point of caring, plus it made my individual strands thick which for a blond is different. Had i not been on it IMO I would have gone bald.

I recently added .5 dutasteride once a week and finasteride 6x's. The shed was brutal. it lasted roughly 6weeks to the day. Felt the hair falling out. It subsided.

My question is about the shed. I upped dosage to .5DUT twice a week/1mg finasteride 5x's. didnt shed but still havent seen growth.

Is the shed a good thing? Does it have a meaning outside of just losing hair?

Shedding when starting any new treatment is always normal, i would personally ask your derm to ditch the finasteride altogether, i was on finasteride for about 11 months before switching to dutasteride, i had a pretty brutal shed although i started oral minoxidil roughly the same time so it may have been a combination of the two, i would say simply ride it out, take photos every few months to compare and give it 12 months.
