What Is The Evidence That Topical finasteride Is Safer Than Oral?

I am talking to a doctor who wants to put me on topical finasteride since I am afraid of the oral but I've seen so many studies and posts etc. etc. etc. that argue it both ways, I don't know what to think. I do think it's well established to be at least as effective as oral, no?

You will end up inhibiting the same amount of serum DHT after a week of topical application but your exposure to finasteride will not be as high as oral finasteride. It should be as effective as oral finasteride in the long run.
