What Is The Difference Between Finasteride And Dutasteride

I recently noticed a news item referring to Ashton Kutcher having previously taken avodart (dutasteride). Maybe this is responsibke for the amazing transformation in his hair.

I have seen people on here refer to dutasteride a few times but dont know much about it. I have been on finasteride for 16 years and I think its preserved my hair but not regrown the minor NW2/2.5 recession. So my hair looks more like Ashtons when he first started receding in his late 20s and not like his amazing hair more recently.

So whats the difference between dutasteride and finasteride? Is it much more effective at regrowing hair?

Some studies show that it is more effective. It inhibits all types of 5AR (1,2,3) while Finasteride inhibits types 2 and 3. Some people add it as an adjunct to Finasteride however if I were you, I would look into growth stimulants like Minoxidil as opposed to using Duasteride. We do not know everything Ashton Kutcher did with his hair, his hair may not be due to just using Duasteride.

Yeah I have just started using minoxidil for the first time a couple of months ago. Too early to tell if its growing new hair for sure. I do have really low expectations though. it does seem to good to be true. Time will tell.
