What is Minoxidil?

I have read a lot about experiences and its purpose, but I still can't tell what I would be applying to my scalp. Is it a shampoo? Some of the pictures on Amazon look like the box comes with a little medicine dropper / pipette. How long does it have to be in contact with the scalp to work? Do you think it would be a waste to use it once per day instead of twice?

Truly speaking my experience with the above mentioned product is not good at all.I think that you have to use the following products for the scalp
Fongitar
Polytar
Which ever you can easily find...

Ignore dalme, he's talking sh*t.

Minoxidil is not a shampoo, it's a liquid or foam that you usually apply to a dry scalp.

Rogaine instructions say to leave on for at least 4 hours.

If you use a liquid minoxidil it can tend to give you a visibly greasy look which will remain until you wash it out, though this works fine for some people. Foam (Rogaine foam) is generally much less visible and dries within 10-20 mins so many people prefer it.
