So, im 21yo, noticed my hair losing density about 2-3 years ago, was diagnosed with male pattern baldness, started 5% minoxidil twice ed like 16months ago, started finasteride 0,5g ed about 4months ago. Through all this time I dont feel like anything ever changed about the rate of my hairloss. Except for shortly after starting Finasteride it felt like it was slowing it down, before I used to get like 40-50 hairs stuck in my hands after applying minoxidil, on finasteride that went to about 5-10, for the last 2-3weeks now its been up to 100-200(!) every time i apply minoxidil(which is twice a day). Even if its just a few hours after washing my hair. Ive mostly just been rly diffuse AS f***(!), but hairline at temples is now receding too. Its safe to say im getting pretty desperate.
What do I do now?
As my dermatologist told me shedding doesnt usually occur on finasteride, I dont think Ive had any on minoxidil, could it still be shedding? How long do I wait before I know its not and I better stop?
I dont want more aggressive medication in terms of dht inhibition since im already having sides on finasteride(reduced libido/weaker erections).
Is 0,5g of finasteride possibly not sufficient to stop diffuse male pattern baldness?
Part of me just wants to say f*** it, stop the tedious/futile attempt to stop male pattern baldness, be bald within 6 months and wear a hat(grown quite fond of them in the last couple months) forever and hope that some kind of cure appears within the next 5 years.
Is that likely to happen? Ive read about some italian lotionthing and something being developed in japan, but didnt look at the specifics.
