that means you have thinning all over your head and not just concentrated in one place.

Okay....well like I mentioned in another post: I am a Norwood 2ish and my dad, uncles, grandfather are all Norwood 2-3ish. We all have lot's of hair other than the temporal area. Should I be concerned about going completely bald on top or should I just stick to my Proscar and quit worrying?
Any type of replies would be helpful. I don't care if the replies are "That is a stupid question you dumbass" I just want some replies.

Thanks guys and keep on keepin on

My guess, and its just a guess, is that you'll follow a similar pattern to your dad. I am following a similar pattern to my dad, but I'm about 5 years ahead of him. He started thinning around 30, I'm 24. It sucks, but he's almost 50 now, and still has hair on his whole head, even though its pretty thin on top, so I'm keeping some hope of maintaining well into my 30s, but I've got a few genuine baldies (NW6's and 7's) in my family tree, so I might get the genetic shaft.

If you're worried that you will get worse than a Norwood 2 without meds, then by all means take them. As long as you don't get bad side effects, they probably aren't going to hurt anything but your wallet.

Generally you can tell how bad you'll get my looking at other balding family members. It's their crappy genes that are making you go bald.

Thank you

You guys are awesome! I really do appreciate the replies. My family all pretty much has hair, but not the straight hairlines like I want! It is frustrating when you start to lose your hair. I'm sure you guys all have that one "friend" who has to point it out too. I think that it shouldn't be that big of a deal, but that's just my opinion. I am taking Proscar (today is my second day) just because I don't want to look like my dad just yet! But I guess if it's in the gene pool then hey, you can't beat genes! (yet).
Thanks for the responses guys and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the responses!

Keep on keepin on and DON"T LET THE HAIRLOSS GET YOU DOWN!
Remember: As you get older...chicks don't give a damn about hair.

Chicks don't care about hair, your exactly right, but they do care about looks and a lack of hair effects your looks.

I agree

Paradise lost.....I do agree with you about that. But at the same time, if a chick doesn't want you because she can't get past your hair then she's probably not worth your time. But I do agree with you, however, to a certain extent.

As I agree with you mr. snake. The chicks that only want me for my looks may not be worth my time.

the good thing is that some guys still look good after hair loss....although none that are like norwood 7 or 8. But if you are good looking and still have some hair on top u should still be considered a worthy mate.

you know it!

Absolutely Jimmy! I do have a question for you guys. I am now have diffuse thinning which I didn't ever have. I went through a pretty painful divorce last November (2004) and it was then that I really noticed that my hair was falling out like crazy. I do notice my diffuse thinning quite badly now. Do you think that the stress from the divorce may have started a thinning process? I also hate and stress about my job EVERY DAY. Do you think that all of this stress could have something to do with my hairloss? I am on Proscar (1/4 daily) and use nizoral 1% every 3rd day. What do you guys think??

I appreciate all of your comments guys. You all rock!

I don't think the stress caused your hair loss but I believe stress can make it worse.

my job

I'm in sales.....and I love the sales part, just hate my bosses and the company I work for. So if some of my hairloss problems were made worse by stress...will it reverse if I rid myself of the stress? Also.....I think I may have a thyroid problem. My dad had one and I believe I am having some symptoms. Gosh listen to me.....I sound like a damn hypochondriac!! I'm really not, but I do think I have a thyroid problem. All of this hairloss was pretty recent (7 months or so). Also, my skin is ridiculously oily. Could that be from the Proscar or could it be part of male pattern baldness.

I'm looking forward to your responses on this guys.
