i know that spironolactone is an anti-androgen. i heard that finasteride was too, is that right?

and nizoral is a mild anti-androgen. what does an anti-androgen do and which ones are anti-androgens?

okay, finasterid is an anti-androgen. it means that it stops the transformation of testosteron in DHT.

i always hear that spironolactone is an anti-androgen too. is that true? i will go on googling.

but now, whats the difference between something like spironolactone and finasteride/avo?

Finasteride and dutasteride are not technically considered to be antiandrogens, because they don't have any significant effect on androgen receptors. They are 5a-reductase inhibitors. There have been suggestions in the past from the medical/scientific community that maybe the definition of "antiandrogen" should be extended to include 5a-reductase inhibitors, but that hasn't happened yet.

Spironolactone, on the other hand, is a true androgen receptor blocker, which makes it a legitimate "antiandrogen".

If you want to keep your hair you can take combination of anti-androgens like spironolactone+flutamide, finasteride+spironolactone, finasteride+ketalonozole+acetone cyprate, etc...
But what you gain in hair loss battle you'll loose in other things like strength, you'll start to talk with a feminine voice, your breast will grow, etc...

finasteride or dutasteride is always fundamental to prevent DHT formation (about 80%) which is the substance responsible for our hairloss, other meds will bind free testosterone so if less T will result in less DHT.
