I'm 27 and it looks like one side of my temple seems to be thinning a bit...which I find weird. It's just one side. And I have very fine hair to the point where you can see my scalp. I've noticed everyone here prescribes finasteride likes it's candy.

What if you can't afford that at all?

I've been looking up DHT Blockers and all kinds of vitamins while trying to get an idea of what pattern of baldness I could get....

Father - NW3 by 26. Would be NW6 but he shaves it.
Paternal Father - Full head until around 60. Then it became NW4 until he died.
Maternal Father -NW3 at a young age until his 70s. Then a NW4 until he died.
Maternal Uncle - Full head until 50. Then a diffused NW3 now at 65.

My older brother is a Marine and he shaves his head but I can see he has a NW2.5 at 30.

10 dollars a month?
what have I been reading...?

Well, I don't want my little dickie becoming useless. Those side effects scare the sh*t out of me.

So the problems with finasteride isn't really the price, it's more the side effects. Well every medication has side effects. The question is how far are you willing to go to save your hair?

Does it have to be medication? That makes me nervous.

Your only real budget options, and also the strongest options, are finasteride and minoxidil. Biotin will do absolutely nothing for male pattern baldness. The side effects of finasteride exist but are highly exaggerated and most people do not get them.

You can play with experimentals but it's going to cost you.

Finasteride is a personal decision, but its hard to avoid because its easily the most effective thing we have. Id say for sure start on minoxidil its very cheap. Take some pictures before you start, and you can think about whether finasteride is worth it to you.
Not using a drug IMO is not a wrong decision. Your health is more valuable than your hair dont forget that. Although it is safe generally

Generic proscar from Walmart: $24 for the year
Generic minoxidil foam from Costco: $45 for 6 cans (should last a year if used only once a day)
Nizoral shampoo at Walmart: $15 for a bottle (one bottle should last 2-4 months with 2-3 times a week usage)

Total monthly cost: roughly 10 dollars a month to treat your hair loss

If you don't need regrowth and can skip minoxidil then monthly cost drops to about 7 bucks a month
