What does new growth look like?

I am not talking about any re-growth from using minoxidil..

I am 5 1/2 months on finasteride and almost a month on minoxidil and I am trying to figure out when my shed hairs will come back, and what it will look like when they do. I have had a pretty intense shed, and my hair has gotten a lot thinner in the front and especially on top, considering I only had a receded hairline when I started this regimen. But I expected a shed and am trying no to worry about it too much..

What I am basically asking is, what does hair look like when it starts the anagen phase? Will it start as a very tiny vellus hair but then thicken into a terminal hair? And how long should I expect this to take? Because there are a ton of these little fine hairs where my hair used to be before it shed.

For me it appeared as a layer of thin vellus popping through all over the place; as I recall my scalp felt much more downy and fuzzy than before.

At first it was hard to tell if it was wishful thinking or there really was new growth, after a few months though the new growth had become noticeably thicker than the other fuzzy vellus hairs.

That is definitely encouraging, because it seems like I have a ton of those hairs growing everywhere... Hopefully they thicken sooner rather than later though!

We are in the same boat...I'm 5 1/2 months on Propecia + Nizoral and 6 weeks on minoxidil.

I've started to see tiny vellus hair as well, hoping like crazy they turn into thick terminal hair.

We should compare and see when/if we ever get any results.. What type of hair loss do you have?

And have you experienced any shedding?
