Dihydrotestosterone is a metabolite of testosterone and is believed to be the hormonally active form of testosterone in males. The majority of dihydrotestosterone is produced in androgen target glands like the prostate, with small amounts produced by the testes, skin and submallixary glands.

This is a parent compound of a number of steroid reparations. The hormone itself is one, which occurs naturally in the body. DHT is responsible for several of the androgenic effects of testosterone like facial hair, genetic balding, and male reproductive organ development. It plays a major role in the building of skeletal muscles. A great percentage of endogenous and exogenous testosterone’s are converted to DHT in the system which many feel results in the actual anabolism of muscle tissue. Common side effects of DHT are acne and accelerated balding.

DHT is produced by males in utero and is responsible for the formation of male gender specific characteristics. DHT is also an important contributor to other characteristics generally attributed to males, including muscular growth, facial and body hair growth, and deepening of the voice.

A conversion of testosterone that is considered to be an aging-bio-marker. Among its affects are the appearance of body-hair, the loss of scalp hair and the onset of prostate gland problems.

Dihydrotestosterone: A byproduct of the male hormone testosterone. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is considered to be the essential androgenic hormone. DHT is responsible for the formation of male primary sex characteristics during embryonic life. It is responsible for the development of most secondary sex characteristics in males at puberty. And it continues to be important to male sexual function throughout adult life

Dihydrotestosterone is the most potent testosterone. It is the one form of testosterone that has been shown in scientific studies to be in clear correlation to sexual desire and performance.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is produced from testosterone. DHT is metabolized to androstanediol and androstanediol-glucuronide. DHT is responsible for the formation of male primary sex characteristics, and for the development of many secondary sex characteristics during puberty. DHT deficiency results in the failure of the development of male genitalia.

No, that is an overstatement.

SOME people experience side effects, but clinical studies say that this happens only for a small percentage of people.

A larger percentage do experience some effects when initially starting finasteride, but these go away as hormone levels find a new equilibrium, and as other non-DHT testosterone variants in the body are not being suppressed.

Adults who are facing male pattern baldness usually have genatalia that are already fully developed. As such, DHT has already completed its primary role in your lifecycle.
