What do you think of what Rassman said about hair cycles?

Here is the questions:

"Dear Doctor;

My hair regrowth regimen consists of the following…1 .5mg Avodart soft gel every morning, then at night, 2% Ketoconazole Shampoo, under occlusion, for up to 1 hour. I do not use Rogaine Foam, or any other Minoxidil product. I have been doing this now for 5 weeks and see no real change in my crown/vertex thinning. Does this sound like a good regimen? Should I take the Avodart at night instead of the morning? How long would you suggest I give the regimen before I should at least start to see some regrowth? Thanks!"

Here is Rassman's answer:

Hair regrowth from known medications can not be seen clearly for 8-12 months. That is because the hair cycle is about 4-6 months and then there is a period where the hair must grow out at 1/2 inch per month.

I've gotten regrowth from Avodart but have only been on it for 5 and a half months. I guess according to Rassman, I should be expecting a lot more?

I'm not confident in much he says but because this is about a rather neutral topic of "hair cycle" I'd say he may know a little concerning the matter and that you may get more regrowth!

Reversing the follicular damage that occurred for a lengthy period of time before you even noticed your hair loss takes equally a considerable amount of time so by no means are you at the peak of your results.

If you have actually gotten regrowth, genuine regrowth, then it is highly plausible that you could regrow all of your hair with the exception of the natural maturation of your hair line/temples that occurs as men age.

Have you also looked at inhibiting TGF-Beta?

I've also read that excess conversion to Estradiol is also harmful to your hair and that you need to mediate both the balance of DHT and Estradiol to achieve more consistent and reliable results. (Epilobium [on its own] can do this and so to can Flaxseed [not on its own]) - so I have read.

I'd really get working on inhibiting TGF-Beta and see how you fair!

So,

Hey. I could go back to taking curcumin 300 mg twice a day to inhibit TGF-beta? Will it even be effective at doing this when taken orally? Thoughts?

As for my regrowth, well I've noticed more thickening than regrowth, but actually, most of the regrowth that I've noticed has been in the hairline and temple region. My right temple has come down a bit and thickened, and my left one has as well.

One thing that's annoying is I have like 20 hairs along my hairline that are about a quarter inch below my hairline. I'm confident that they are regrowth because I noticed them a couple months ago and now they are getting really long. It's a pain in the *** because when I comb my hair back they don't come back along with the rest of the hairline.

I could take Vitamin E and GTE for PKC and TNF?

Speak to Docj077 I believe he has good experience with Curcumin....

You should fair well with GTE but as for Vit E I am unaware of its effectiveness as I have not read to many studies nor crossed referenced with other white papers to confirm its potential benefit.

I'd invest in GSE and procyanidin B-2 (maybe apple poly type product) for PKC inhibition.

I've Apple P on the way in the hope that PKC/TGF-B can be knocked out...
