What do you make of these saw palmetto studies?

The first one is the one we've already mentioned several times, and which was publicly flogged on 20/20 as poorly conducted and with results that were unverifiable. This study is mentioned in the "The Facts on Saw Palmetto" in the Men's General Hair Loss Discussions forum. The thread is right at the top.

For the second one... like Bruce says, too much information is left out. What exactly is "hair density" ? Is it hair counts? If on a 27% increase in hair counts was measured versus a very close 13% for those taking the placebo, this isn't statistically significant enough to mention, in my opinion. What about those who lost hair? What device was used? Etc. The entire study would be needed.

Also, Bryan has mentioned that topical SP seems to have a different potential than orally ingested SP. You'd need to ask him why that hypothesis exists.

This belongs in the unproven forum... so we're moving it there.
