I think its stupid unless combined with some sought of hair transplant, otherwise you just look like any old bald fella.

Your hair is going to change color as you age... Plus skin changes, stretches, wrinkles, and tattoos fade.

Smp, wigs and concealers are all garbage 'treatments' imo.

Definitely good if you want to mantain the buzzed look.
Beard transplant is also a good idea for that goal, to complement if you have a scarce donor area

SMP doesn't get much respect in the hairloss community. Its still the new guy on the block and most people are quite skeptical. Admittedly, its a pretty strange concept and off putting at first.

Most people who loose their hair want one thing... their hair back. Unfortunately, SMP doesn't do that. However, the illusion it creates (if maintained properly through shaving every day and touch ups every few years) is reportedly very undetectable.

I disagree with saltifdoit insomuch as, having even the illusion of a hairline can have a huge impact on ones appearance, simply by framing your face. Someone who has hair and decides to shave vs someone who lost their hair and has to shave are two different things as far as I am concerned (and I believe most of society notices the difference as well).

I've seen hundreds of before and after photos and I think 99% of the people look better after (even though some people flat out don't look good with a shaved head, I think they typically look better with SMP nonetheless.)

There are a few dedicated SMP forums on the web (hosted by the companies who offer the service) where recipients of the treatment detail their experiences. It seems that most people who undergo the treatment are ecstatic about the results. A lot of people report it as being a life changing experience. Of course, not everyone is satisfied but it seems most people are.

Ideally it would be great to have some hair left and use SMP to add density. But I've seen a lot of NW7's get it with nothing on top and it still looks good. Actually, the guys with greater hair loos seem to be the ones happiest with the treatment. I think that's cause most people with extreme hair loss have lost hope and look at SMP as the last resort.

I've been considering this treatment for about 6 months now and its been a very difficult decision to make. Most likely I'll go through with it in the next few months, but I'm still currently battling all the "what if's" that could go wrong. Then I look in the mirror and see the NW7 staring back and I tell myself... do it, do it now!!!

If your considering SMP I'd defiantly recommend seeing it in person on multiple people to determine if its right for you.

Good luck man, keep us posted.

I actually have a teacher who I'm 100% sure he had SMP, the hairline is simply to perfect to be a transplant.
I think it looks great, honestly. People who actually like to keep their had short, which actually seems to be a trend nowadays, will definitely feel comfortable with a properly done SMP.

Wouldn't it feel weird to have a straight *** hairline with no texture to it? So basically, anyone who touches my head will know it's fake?

Aren't the pigments they insert in your scalp relatively palpable. I doubt it's just a shaded bald head

The dots they insert in your head are ink pigments, so you won't feel them at all. Its similar to a tattoo but they don't go as deep into the skin. It is essentially just shading a bald head.

Whenever I shave my head I typically go over it twice; once with the grain and then once against. After I'm done, I can't feel a single hair on my head. I can still see a pretty distinct horeshoe, but my whole head is totally smooth to the touch. If you keep it shaven that close and someone runs their hand against your head they won't be able to tell the difference between your real hair and SMP.

Another thing that I noticed since I started shaving my head.. everyone has those tiny white hairs on top that don't really grow. I'm a NW6-7 and if I close my eyes and rub my hand against the top of my head, a day or so after a shave, it kind of feels like I still have hair on the top as well as the sides. There is a slight different texture but I don't think anyone would notice if they touched your head casually. Even if someone is rubbing your head non stop their mind will trick them into thinking its real when they feel those tiny hairs everyone has. I haven't heard anyone say they were outed after someone touched their head and felt a difference.

If you let your hair grow out for 2-3 days then you run the risk of people noticing a difference between the 2D SMP and 3D real hair. In order to keep SMP undetectable, most people say they have to shave every day or every other day. That's the biggest downfall, the commitment to shaving.

Choosing an appropriate hairline is also a big factor. Some people look great with the straight hairlines some people look better with a bit of a receded look. Its best to test out different hairlines on yourself before you go with one. You can test out different hairlines by using dermatch or eyeshadow.

Be aware, if you do SMP don't do in unknown places. There are lots of them who do horrific work, you'll end up way worse than bald.
SMP may be a last-resport solution, but only done "conservatively", so you don't create a hairlie which is too low or too perfect, or too dark, or too dense, otherwise it just looks unnatural and weird.

I've heard Milean Lardi's name dropped a few times on the web recently but I've never seen any pictures from her treatment. Well.. actually, I saw one set of marketing material.

I've read a bunch of zygote testimonials, but thats it.

Honestly, an every 6 month treatment is garbage.

Fred, I'm token a back that you would suggest something like that. Its no hair loss solution. You would typically be the first to point something like that out.

im getting it done in a month or two just to lower my hairline before i get an fue hair transplant 5-6 years down the track. ill tell you guys how it goes\

mind you im only a NW2 with diffuse thinning so with SMP i can make my hair look 'fuller' per say and if anyone tiouched my head they can feel that i have hair and enough coverage of the whole top of my head
I'm lowering my hairline like 1cm I think. its just a confidence thing and plus I shave my head anyway so why not?

Yeah I was thinking that but a temporary one you have to get it looked at yearly with touch ups once every year or two.. whereas permanent is once every 5 years. ill see though

Yeah I know you are diffuse. my point was nw2 isn't too bad, wouldn't you be better off SMP your crown/top instead of the hairline?
