I am 29 and have been losing for about 5-6yrs. At first my temples receded a bit and then thinning in the front. Now I noticed that the thinning is spreading back towards the crown when the hair is wet. The pic shows how bad it is. It is cut really short. It looks better when I just let it grow for a month. I have been taking 1.25mg finasteride for about a month and haven't even looked for results because it has been too early. WHat do you guys suggest. I refuse to be a slave to the foam so that is not an option. Oh, I also do the 2% nizoral thing a few times a week. I alaso take a few supplements but I don't think they will do anything.

Things I have noticed. My hairline is really thin and the hairs stopped growing but are still relatively thick. Most are miniaturizing though. I do notice some really small fine blonde hairs around my hairline. COuld these possibly grow back?
I also want to note that my head is constantly irritated and itchy. I can't see a rash or anything. Derm couldn't find anything wrong. Feels like the hairs are actually being attack like they area ll splinters or a foreign material imbedded in the skin. Nothin has been able to stop that feeling.
Am I doomed or what. I bought a years supply of finasteride so I am going to take that although the sides suck so far. My junk hurts and it takes alot of effort to get it up.

Well, the itchiness is a common feeling for people suffering male pattern baldness. It may be possible that finasteride solves your itching, at least it did for me.

Are you happy with your hairline??

I am asking since if you only want to maintain what you have then you are doing the right thing and needn´t think about further additions to your regimen. If not then there is little you can hope for if you refuse to take the foam. Good Luck bro

interesting

Very interesting. I have been on finasteride for a couple months now and have dealt with a lot of shedding and the irritation you speak of. I also have dandruff now. I never had any pain, itching, or dandruff before taking Propecia. Maybe Propecia is having an adverse effect? I mean, I read here a lot that the shedding is common and shouldn't necessarily cause alarm, but all of the other symptoms point to a progression of my thinning due to Propecia.

Maybe your hairloss simply got more agressive..... There is no scientific support that Propecia causes shedding.

hmm

That is definitly a possible consideration, but I don't think it is the case. While it is possible that at the exact same time I started taking Propecia, I was genetically programmed to shed hair rapidly, develop dandruff, and have intense itching and pain in my scalp, but doesn't this seem coincidental?

Your regimen says that you are using Nizoral shampoo as well. Numerous guys on here have reported that it made their scalps more itchy. Maybe you might stop it for a while just to make it isn´t the case for you.

I would be fine with my hairline if it just thickened up. I am realizing that people like me in this state or bald but I prefer to have hair and giving this a chance. I just don't know anymore. Just buzz it or what... Luckily i have a good personality and am very charming  . This is a last ditch effort to have some kind of confidence with the ladies though.

My itching of the scalp was related to my male pattern baldness and the itching when away when I started taking finasteride.

Your hairloss looks very aggresive. You should get your haircut very short.

You're going to be a slave to the finasteride anyways so what do you have against minoxidil?! It's NOT that cumbersome to put this stuff on anymore with the foam and Spectral DNC. THIS is what you're going to need to get some regrowth going on those temples if any at all. Remember that some promising new treatments are right around the corner and we want to make sure our follicles have not died until this happens. You need to add Rogaine Foam or Spectral DNC and make it the Big 3.

I'm not sure how these two would effect your itching issue but have you looked into topical spironolactone and/or Retin-A yet? Of which I'd stick in the queue behind minoxidil.
