What Do People Mean By Male Pattern Baldness Shedding?

Currently i'm in a position where I'm losing a lot of hair, all around my head. Bald spots are starting to form in places like the back of my head, and above my ears on the side of my head. All the hairs that I'm losing have tiny white dots at the end of them. I'm unsure whether I have telogen effluvium or some sort of alopecia. I'm just wondering, is there a difference between an male pattern baldness shed and a telogen effluvium shed.. is there a way to identify which one I'm having?

99.9% of balding is male pattern baldness
0.1% is a telogen effluvium chance

The white dots are meaningless. I have loads of body hair and those same white dots are on those hairs when I run my hand through them and some come out. Try it with your pubes even.
