Pretty much says it for itself. I'm at the point where I think that my hair is thinning at age 36 in my crown/vertex area but I cannot afford finasteride, minoxidil or anything at the moment. Is there anything that can help with my thinning that I can do for no $$$ at the moment?

Thanks.

if ur mw 1, as finfighter claims, or close to it, even Norwood 2-3 at 36, i wouldnt really do anything, other than good health, hygiene etc. maybe use nizoral once a wk to keep fungi at bay.

my reason is, if finfighter says ur nw1, and u say its worse, then most probably ur somewhere in between, (not calling either liars, but ppl can over/under exagerate depending on their biases)

so lets assume ur Norwood 2, at the age of 36. This is good, its just a mature hairline, and u need to accept 99% of guys do recede a little by the time they r 36, i think ppl can look a bit weird if they dont personally.

just accept it as a sign of maturity and move on. be thankful u didnt lose half it b4 20, like some poor souls here. Treatments will really do either nothing, or make it worse for someone in ur position, imo.

go away and dont come back. spend time on a hobby or something instead, u cant look like a teenager forever!

just trying to be democratic. Whther hes 1 or 2 everything i said still applies.

i do think theres an emerging pattern of people with perfectly fine hair coming on these forums, simply because they can.

Its a worry, because stressing over minor hairloss will only lead to major hairloss, and the treatments really dont work as preventative treatments, since they usually carry a major shed, which u are not garanteed to recover.

I also find people tend to generalise. That is people who made gains with treatments, tend to assume everyone will make gains with them, and people who shed, and dont recover assume that will happen to everyone. So we have people either saying start ...... as soon as possible, or dont ever use ........

for the record i certainly think both scenarios are possible. But alot would disagree. Its been my experience though that nothing works for me, no matter what i do, i only ever seem to speed up the process. But then people would say i am just a bad responder, and things are progressing at normal rate.

still, it took me 12 years to lose the first inch from my hairline, and 12 months to lose the second. With finasteride, i seem to have lost 1000 hairs and only grown back about 6. lol which are tiny and practcally incvisable, so i honestly think i have only made it worse, and dont care what others assume.

yep, getting a bit sick of people with minor normal recession wanting to start treatments for prevention. It just doesnt work like that. Someone needs to tell them the truth.

Hey, thanks guys for the replies....and yes I totally agree with you finasteride about having decent hair for age 36. But, and you'll have to take my word for this, since February, I have noticed that the area where I have that split in the back, to the left, it looks like it's gradually getting thinner. My wife says that it's just my hairline which I didn't think you have a hairline in the back of your head and I thought it was just in the front. Yeah I'm stupid like that. But once I get some paid, I just wonder if maybe applying some rogaine in that area could maybe thicken it...that's all that it seems like it really needs. But I know with DHT and without a DHT blocker, this will not stop it. But for right now, I thought maybe head massage or some other crap might help out a bit. Just have multi-vitamins and fish oil going on right now. Does Nizoral help thicken in maybe an area that could be thinning in the crown & is crown recovery easier than the front to recover? Once again, thanks guys and I know finasteride, lol, I probably just need to shut up.

If you're talking about his "am I balding?" thread...then I will play devil's advocate.

1: His hair is rather long
2: He only has a few shots
3: You never see his hairline

If you look at my pics you wouldn't know that I was balding, but I am.

You can get a year's supply of finasteride for less than $50 if you buy generic proscar online and quarter it. That's really your cheapest option.

I'll have to get some recent but actually the ones that i have posted defeat the purpose. But that's the craziest thing is that going to the derm and she said no miniaturization, I just don't know what I'm seeing because not sure if male pattern baldness would work that fast since Feb.

So Rawtashk, on the post, you see my crown area & don't think you think that could be a sign of thinning, esp to the left of the split area?

Thanks again guys and all in all finasteride, I know you are more than likely right. BTW, my wife think I'm beyond crazy.

My friend, from the photos I have seen you are just fine! You know stress causes hair loss and it seems to me you have been stressing big time for the past few months. I know it's hard not to worry but I really think you should try no to think too much on it.

Says the guy who doesn't have the guts to stop using minoxidil and claims supplements are making his hair grow
By the way, how are those anti-depressants "natural supplements"?

I love my antidepressants and my minoxidil as much as my natural products, you're close-minded dude :)
Just don't spread lies

Tell the guy that ACV won't do crap because you are also using minoxidil.
Can I sell you candies as "supplements" for your minoxidil? Because that is basically what you are doing.

You're discrediting supplements, just like other natural products only because there is no money involved for them, hence there's no real trials for those products because they mean 0€ (or $ if your prefer). But with minoxidil and propecia, there is money involved, so there are your precious proofs, but sorry my supplements and topicals helped me, I'd swear it on my mother's head! I'm not spreading lies!

I'll conclude with that: moi au moins j'ai des cheveux! => Me at least I have hair :D
Great, another troll making fun of bald people

How there's not money involved?
I buy generic finasteride and it costs me way less than a bottle of ACV at GNC

Just don't lie to people. Every time you mention your supplements, also mention them you are using minoxidil. Because you know that is what is really working, otherwise you would stop using it

Thanks Thom, I feel though that it may have gotten abit worse because I feel like my hair has lost some density along that part line in my back and I can see little peaks of scalp showing up between hair. Hey, I saw your new photos & they are looking great and very successful. Wasn't sure if you were really thinning before but the big 3 is working good! Thinking about when I get paid on getting on some rogaine because at the moment, all I really feel that I need is thickening but I should probably think of finasteride to stop the male pattern baldness. So Fred, the minoxidil worked for you and still is working? I was taking my multi-vitamins but ran out but taking fish oil and biotin at the moment. Thanks for the comments guys!!!

Thanks for the compliments! If you feel that you have lost some density, or your hair is a different texture than it used to be, you might consider your city's water filtration system. I have a filter to keep city chemicals out of my water because my head is sensitive to them. This is all speculatory so I don't want anyone to attack me on here but I do know that a lot of people complain of thinning when they move to U.S cities from other countries due to the chemicals in the water.

I'm sure even if you're not losing your hair through genetics that minoxidil will help you fine. Just give it time and expect a lot of shedding in the first few months!
