Try spironolactone.

I am not bashing you here but I feel I must point out that any hair you grow with Rogaine will be temporary if you do not address the DHT issue.

Good Luck

warrior - people probably bashed you because there's this incredibly effective treatment and you pretty much said "dont mention it to me". so they probably went a little cross eyed and said something. try to understand that.

radio wasn't talking about orally ingested spironolactone. that you definitely want to avoid. you asked about topicals, so he probably didnt see the need to say "Topical Spironolactone".

I had some serious problems with finasteride after 3 years of use, but it worked amazingly well for me. I was pissed off but forced to stop taking it and go with a topical alternative.

I did a ton of research, asked a lot of people who I trust, and the answer was solid among them all: the highest chances of duplicating finasteride topically, without the side effects, is:

Revivogen once or twice a day
Topical Spironolactone 5% lotion TWICE a day
Nizoral shampoo once every 3 days

I've been on this alternate regimen for almost 4 years and have maintained all my hair with it.

If you care about using the products with the most data backing them, spironolactone and Revivogen are it. You can get the spironolactone at Dr. Lees site minoxidil.com and Revivogen anywhere you want. We do have it on our store here, but Im not posting this to make a sale, so please buy it at revivogen.com or somewhere else.

Good luck!

docs here charge money to write me up a prescription. Im broke almost

Pretty much every hair loss treatment can be bought very cheaply without a prescription.

Proscar costs me £5 (around $9 US) a month.

You can buy generic Fincar off the net, without a prescription, much cheaper than $40, and still have money left over for Nizoral.

fincar=scam?

No, fincar is made by Cipla a very very big Pharmaceutical company, it is safe.

Have a look at this for finpecia (same company) success, it will make yout eyes water !! :)

Remember

fincar = 5mg of finasteride

finpecia = 1mg of finasteride

You need 1mg a day to treat male pattern baldness, more will not always help and could carry risks of increased side effects.
If you buy the 5mg fincar to save cash you need to chop them up into 5 bits and take 1 of these bits (1mg) every day.

The reason why is because most people who are happy with their treatments often don't post.
Don't forget many thousands of people all over the world read these forums so the amount of people reporting side effects are very small. DHT will get you if you don't take finasteride.

ttwarrior1, Proscar, Finpecia and Fincar are cheap and proven.

They can be aquired without a prescription quite legally.

It is true that you will often read about side effects here, you will also hear about people feeling unwell in a doctors waiting room and a few hours in a oncology department of a hospital will turn up a suprising amount of people with cancer.

Sexual side effect run at about 2%, you read more about these side effects because if people do get side effects they will post about it, often looking for advice, I have never had side effects and have never started a thread to inform everyone that I have not got side effects.

The FDA trials conducted for Merck reported sexual side effects at 2%, this figure is likely to be close to the actual number experienced in the general population, Merck cannot influence the FDAs figures.

Those that do experience side effects will generally seem them subside with continued use.

If you are fixed on not touching finasteride, your options for reducing DHT would be spironolactone, azelaic acid, revivogen and at a push Nizoral shampoo. I would also recommend Proxiphen, but as you say you have not got a buch of money to burn at the moment, I would avoid this as it is very expensive.

Best of luck.
