What are the symptoms of male pattern baldness?

When you have male pattern baldness and are losing hair does your scalp always itch? Does it itch where you're losing hair or all over the place? Do you notice hair on your pillow everyday? How many do you notice when you comb/run your fingers through your hair. Is it normal for some fallen hair to be very thin compared to other very thick fallen hair?

Persistent scalp itch is not necessarily indicative of male pattern baldness. On the other hand however, it certainly is not uncommon for M.P.B sufferers to experience it, but to be perfectly honest I really have not seen any statistically data to confirm this as an actual symptom or side-effect. Because so many individuals afflicted with M.P.B do often complain about scalp itch(myself included) I think it needs to be seriously talked about and delved into more. I experienced "the itch" while I was losing my hair, and still do, however my case was ruled to be seborrhea dermatitis .I don't believe it is unreasonable to speculate that a correlation exists. Yes typically any one of us experiencing M.P.B., will surely notice excessive shedding and hair fall ( on your pillow, sink, comb, under your cap, between your fingers, etc.,),but other conditions or diseases can cause dramatic hair loss as well. I don't know whether it is "normal" for some fallen hairs to be thinner than others. Only comprehensive blood work and/or a proper diagnosis by a well qualified and respected physician can reliably determine what's specifically going on with you. I am sorry if my responses were confusing. A medical exam should be your first recourse. Thanx for sharing and all the best.

Hair loss consists of small thin vellus hairs + regular ones = real hair loss

Only full-grown thick hair strands are falling out = regrowth

Here's hair from different parts of my head that's fallen out when putting my hand through my hair a few times to get hair out.

Is this what you're describing?

Yeah miniaturization..followed by hair falling out...
Thinning, recession....

Very hard to know you're experiencing actual male pattern baldness, until you get to my point I guess
It's very easy to tell for us of course... i guess

I didn't really notice hair falling every where. I just noticed my temples were starting to thin and the hair wasn't coming back.
