Hello All,

So as the title states I am on the big 3 (finasteride, Minoxodil, nizoral) but my temples are still slowly receding. I am a young guy 22. I'm hoping that the finasteride starts to kick in more soon, but I've already been on it for 6 months and I still notice that my hair is getting wispier and thinner. I am surprised it didnt have more of an effect.

I am open to a hair transplant but right now my hairline isn't terrible, its just slowly getting worse and worse. I do not want to go through this "balding stage" where my hair isnt good, but not bad enough to get a hair transplant.

What are my options moving forward? I have read that doctors wont even perform a transplant until your balding is bad enough. Trouble is I don't want it to be bad enough... Can I go in for mini transplants just on my temples?

All help is appreciated.

Thank you,
C

You could wait up to a year and see if your loss does stabilize, although if it's been 6 months on finasteride and your still clearly losing ground I'm not sure how much stabilization you could expect. At this point the drug has been in your system long enough for a couple hair cycles to turn over and you probably should have seen stabilization by this point

Otherwise your other "relatively safe" options are basically dutasteride or RU58841

I wouldn't hold out much hope for finasteride if its been 6 months, i was on it for 11 months and still lost ground.. you could try dutasteride, loniten, RU58841, Zix, spironolactone, Androcur or some other hard antiandrogen. Can you post pics of your hair?
