I'm getting low on my India nizoral, so I either need to order more or find local sources... any suggestions? I actually like the Indian nizoral so worst case I will order 6 bottles... they are pretty small. I use it 3-4 a week.

AFAIK - you can't get 2% in the states without a scrip (u live in Chicago, rght?) which is why most of us by it on-line from places like united pharmacies. How far is Chicago from the Canada border (duh). You can by 2% in Canada over the counter.

because they dont have it on the shelves, perhaps?

that's like asking, why is propecia prescription only? well because they don't have it on the shelves? it doesn't tell us anything. he was asking why nizoral 2% requires a prescription and 1% doesn't, i believe.

I understood what he meant :p

so, to give a serious answer, maybe it's realted to posible side effects:

Shampoo

In 11 double-blind trials in 264 patients using ketoconazole 2% shampoo, an increase in normal hair loss and irritation occurred in less than 1% of patients. In three open-label safety trials in which 41 patients shampooed 4-10 times weekly for six months, the following adverse experiences each occurred once: abnormal hair texture, scalp pustules, mild dryness of the skin, and itching. As with other shampoos, oiliness and dryness of hair and scalp have been reported.

This medication may cause abnormal hair texture, scalp pustules (pimples), dry skin and itching. There may also be oiliness and dryness of the hair and scalp. Rarely, there may be some hair loss. Inform your doctor if these should persist or worsen. Also inform your doctor if there is any chemical sensitivity to the shampoo. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication may cause abnormal hair texture, discoloration, irritation, or pimple-like bumps on the scalp. There may also be oiliness or dryness of the hair and scalp. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: hair loss.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
