Well, it looks like I'm screwed.

Started finasteride about month ago, at 0.5 mg every day. Got hard and sensitive nipples which hurt when brushing against the shirt.

Dropped down 0.5 mg every 3 days. Took that for a month. The nipple sensitivity mostly went away though they were still 'hard' much more often than normal and somewhat puffy. I thought that was gonna be it. Now, I notice about 1 cm to the upper-right of my right nipple there is something of a lump, which hurts to the touch. It's not directly under the nipple so I thought it might've been chest muscle tissue but, the other surrounding tissue doesn't hurt, just that one small spot. There is nothing like that on the left nipple. I can only detect it when my lift my arm up so my skin is very close to the stuff inside.

I am pretty sure this is a bad thing. I'm going to leave it alone for a few days (without touching it) to see if it still hurts, but if it does, it's probably gyno and I guess that's that for me and finasteride. And just when I thought I was starting to see some vellus hairs.

FML.

I don't know man - I would love for it to be anything other than that, because, if I can't take finasteride, then what? It's over.

I am honestly not entirely surprised this is happening because - at about 13 years of age, shortly after puberty, I had a small lump under that nipple which went away about a year afterwards... and never had problems with it after that.
But it seems that, minus the DHT, that estrogen-sensitive tissue is now getting stimulated and growing again.

This ****ing sucks.

Hey dude... my suggestion is to take a break till all sensitivity goes away.. then restart at .25mg a day... this causes me no gyno irritation and I feel as if my shedding has lessened... as of yesterday I started on .25 every 12 hours which hopefully is smiling to .5 a day... anyways its worth a shot because without finasteride we are screwed. Good luck man!

Don't let anyone convince u its no gyno... if u feel lumps those are glands which are common In many men (as long as it's a tiny gland it won't have any effect on aesthetics) but when tissue is growing is when you really need to evaluate your situation... are u overweight by any chance?

Nipples are supposed to be sensitive just FYI, only when touched of course
I also suffered from gyno after taking finasteride for only two weesk, yes I've finally come to the conclusion I did suffer from mild gyno.
Luily I immediately stopped taking it before it became noticeable to other people. I finally accepted that finasteride gave me gyno it after two weeks of vigorously trying to feel for any lump mass in both of my nipples, I've finally come to the conclusion my lift nipple feels totally different to my right,I immediately noticed something was off when I pinched my breast tissue and for whatever reason it would give me a lot of trouble and then I noticed the fact that there was some kind of strange mass under my nipple. Well there you go. To be honest I'm still unsure because for whatever reason I seem to recall my breast tissue not identical on both sides.

definitely sounds like gyno 100% to me. im on HRT and that causes full blown breast growth and what you describe sounds exactly like how it felt when i was first noticing changes in my nipples/breasts

that's typical. my left breast is developing quicker than my right. happens to pretty much everybody with breast development. it usually evens out for the most part as it develops, but even most girls have one boob thats slightly larger than the other.

It's weird though, there is nothing directly under either nipple, so would it start off to the side like that? Doesn't make sense.

Also, would it be worthwhile to ask for an ultrasound, would that be able to tell anything this early on?

God, I'm so torn now... if you can imagine. I literally had everything hanging on the ability to take finasteride and that working, and now I feel like I don't even wanna live anymore (it's not that hair loss is my only issue in life, I have other medical problems so it all adds up pretty badly). And worst of all I am not even sure if it's gyno or not and now I'm just flipping between these two states of "maybe it's not and there's still hope" and "can't even take finasteride **** everything about my life". Damn.

Kind of on topic... but do you NEED to stop finasteride if you get gyno? Like, will the gyno get worse or will it just stay as it is. Does the Gyno indicate another more sinister issue going on in the body orr? Because, i'll be honest. A little gyno to keep my hair for 10 years seems like a good deal, you can get surgery to remove Gyno easily.
