Weird feeling in my head?

Hey guys.

I know that some people (or is it a fact?) says that an itchy scalp might be a sign of hairloss. Well, I'm on 1,25mg finasteride from Actavis now, and my scalp still itches like it would without finasteride. But it doesn't just itch, sometimes I get a weird feeling in my head. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like there is something inside the back of my head. The feeling is so weird. Do you think the itch and the weird feeling might mean that hairloss is still getting me, and finasteride isn't working?

I have a weird feeling that the 1,25 Actavis finasteride isn't helping at all. For a year ago I was on 1mg Finpecia from Generic4all. The results were really good, and I had no itching or weird feelings in my head at all. Sadly Generic4all closed, and I had to get on the Actavis brand. I'm getting it on prescription, so it should be legit, but something just tells me it isn't helping the same way.

Anyone with the same experiences?

Not 100% sure, just basing it off of anecdotal evidence.

If I feel tenderness or an itch in my head, it's usually accompanied by a shed or a shed soon follows.

Once all those hairs have shed, my scalp returns to feeling normal.

I think so. For me, the hairs have had to shed and cycle multiple times in order to regain thickness. I'm trying to be patient about the whole process, as I hate experiencing sheds.

It's not painful. It's like a drug is going through your head. And for the itching part, I don't understand why my head is itching when I'm on finasteride. Isn't it supposed to stop then?

Well some people do say that they still itched on finasteride. How much sebum do you find on your scalp?

The reason I'm asking is that before finasteride my scalp was just choc full of sebum, once I started it dropped down dastrically to the point where my scalp feels a bit dry. This sometimes causes me itching but not as much as when my head was covered in sebum.

I know that feeling man. I got the whole dry feelings, the tingling, the itching, the strange feeling (felt almost numb). I think it's just inflammation, all of those problems I listed usually go away when I use Nizoral. They come back again on days I don't use it. So try adding Nizoral (sorry this sounds like an ad lol).

I don't have any problems with sebum or anything. At least I don't think so, and I use Nizoral 2-3 times a week. I have the itching feeling often while the strange feeling in my head only pops up once in a while.

I'm afraid that the itch and that strange feeling is a sign of hairloss.. Kind of frustrating.

Hahaha no.
Most dermatologists doesn't even know about the itch, and will shrug their head at you or avoid your questions.
I've been to no less than 6 so called "professionals" and have no more answers than before I went.
It's a waste of time and money. Unless of course, you are really lucky and find a GOOD dermatologist that actually knows something worth knowing about hair loss.
Other than that yes I have "the itch". I have never been on finasteride (yet), but I'm on oral spironolactone, Diane 35 (bcp) and Rogaine (woman).
The itch was there before I went on the regimen, and stayed there on the regimen.
It's a constant feeling but has lately been a little less painful. Might return anytime though...
It's a weird feeling like you describe, and it sorta moves around like an infection and it is not a regular itch, more like a dull burning itch like acid or something (just not that strong).
I'm sorry to tell but the itch is never a good sign. I think once we can get rid of the itch which is probably due to inflammation from losing hair,
we can slow down the hair loss a lot. I read somewhere inflammation can actually speed up the balding process to go twice as fast!
Your best bet is to do a lot of research on your own, and try to find a solution cause the "professionals" doesn't care about your hair or pain, only what's in your wallet.

That exactly the feeling I have. Great explanation. I remember the days when I had full head of hair, and my head was starting to itch like crazy (much more than now). My front was even red from all the itching. I wasn't even thinking of hairloss at that time (being 19). It didn't ever occur to me. If I had just known so I could act already then.

the itch is ****ing horrible, it just feels like your hair is dying. luckily finasteride seems to have got rid of to most of it for now.

guys I found something that cures the itch for me every single time I use it and it lasts quite a while too....I squeeze a lemon wedge onto my scalp/hair and let it sit on there for like 10 minutes it works wonders for dandruff and the itch...

Apple Cider Vinegar/ Coconut Oil or onion juice topical seem to help
