Weight Lifting (higher Testosterone) Actually Good For Hair??

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I always thought that weight lifting was bad for hair loss because of higher testosterone = higher DHT = greater rate of hair loss. However, i've read that weight lifting will only slightly accelerate hair loss in men pre disposed to male pattern baldness moreover, weight lifting should have minimal impact on hair loss.

Maybe i'm imagining things but ever since i started consistently weight lifting and eating clean (healthy + higher protein)) food whilst bulking (eating a surplus) i feel as if my hair has actually become slightly thicker. I don't know if this is true or not, but could it be the case that weight lifting could actually help hair loss? Maybe i suffered from low testosterone because ever since i've been lifting heavy + eating heaps i've experienced a powerful sex drive, greater confidence, aggression etc (signs of higher testosterone)

Do you think higher testosterone may actually help hair loss?

look how many of these guys have hair
it's interesting

My suspicion is that being more of a man is just about neutral to hair, but I don't think there's convincing evidence as such either way.

If masculinity was what caused hair loss, women would be genetically wired to find baldness sexy.

i read somewhere that removing androgens in the form of free testosterone caused localized hair loss on the front part of the head (i'll try to find the link to this)

with that said, if you have a hormonal imbalance, id theorize that, it would induce endocrine activities that might catalyze hair loss. but i dont think pumping testosterone into your veins is going to do much for male pattern baldness on a broader scale because 1) we've found that men with low, normal, and high levels of testosterone were not discriminated by male pattern baldness 2) the highlighting feature of male pattern baldness is the gradual miniaturization of hair follices which is induced when androgen activity occurs near hypersensitive follicles.

Anything is possible with how little anyone knows. I dont see how it would ever good for hair to add more androgens when androgens cause hair to miniaturize for sensitive hair. Taking steroids doesnt seem it would help your hair, but if your doing that im guessing your more about muscles than hair to begin with

If your follicles are sensitive to androgens, then you will lose more hair with more androgens floating around in your system. If your like me and you're blessed with follicles of the gods that have no sensitivity to androgens, then you can blast 2 grams of Test-E and 1 gram of Tren per week and still not lose any hair.

Why are you on a hair loss forum if you have perfect hair?

If anything it would cause more hair loss. More testosterone being converted to DHT. I don't know if this is true though. And the reason many of those people have full heads of hair is because of genetics not because they lift. male pattern baldness is almost all genetics, and even if you take steroids or something that speeds it up, if you would not lose your hair from genetics then steroids is not going to make you lose your hair. It may speed up the process though.

Yeah really they need to find a way to replicate androgen insensitivity syndrome just local to the scalp or destroy the ARs but that might not be possible to do. Hormones decline with age, but I think its possible the sensitivity of hair to the remaining hormones actually keeps increasing so you can lose hair as you get older faster then when you had higher hormones.
We need better ways to stop the AR or dealing with the sensitivity piece of male pattern baldness versus the absolute hormone levels. Blowing away your T and DHT isnt a very elegant solution
