Washing Your Scalp Every Other Day With A System?

Hello, all,

I'm thinking about a system. I need to wash my hair every other day, at the longest, as I have a very flakey scalp. Would this prove problematic with a system, and expensive, as I get the impression from what I've read the people leave systems on for weeks at a time?

Thanks.

Typically a hair system is worn from a week to 3 weeks.

If you have lace you will be able to have access to scalp washing, however it is limited compared to a bare scalp and a system isnt designed for daily washing - it will lose colour quicker and shed more on average.

You could use short life adhesive and reattach every few days, but it will add time to the process. Product costs tape and cleaner will raise of course but still under £150 for the year.

I'm still thinking about a hair system. Isn't it kind of gross for someone to go a week without washing their hair? There must be a lot of people that wash their hair regularly, and use a system.

Hair on a hair system is different from growing hair. Growing hair is supplied with a natural oil - sebum - by sebaceous glands on your scalp. That oil conditions the hair, but also attracts dust and dirt. Hair system hair does not get that coating of sebum, and therefore it doesn't get dirty as quickly as growing hair, and it also doesn't have that natural conditioner. Consequently it doesn't need to be shampooed as often as growing hair. Once a week is enough, unless you have been somewhere very dusty or smoky. Of course, you can shampoo it more often if you want, but it will dry the hair out and knock a bit off the system's lifespan.

Obviously if you are working out every day then you will want to wash your hair afterwards. The point is that you don't need to shampoo it. You can just allow the warm water to run through the hair, through the lace mesh, and onto your scalp. You can shampoo your growing side hair, but just wash your system hair with water. It's not gross. Your system and scalp are clean and fresh and in good condition.

If you have eczema or some medical condition which makes your scalp flake off, that is a different issue. If you need to get access to your scalp every day, I would suggest you either attach the system daily and take it off at night (you could maybe use Got2BGlued) or you could use a light-tack tape at the back and sides of the system. That would allow you to peel the system forward from the back to access your scalp without disturbing the hairline. Then, when you have done whatever scalp treatments you have to do, you could simply roll the system back into position.

Thanks, Noah, a brilliant post. I've only just started reading this forum again after being away for a long time, but I've noticed you pop up a lot, giving helpful advice. Well done. This kind of thing can be daunting, and it's sometimes hard to find the answer we want, so your help is invaluable, and appreciated by very many.

Edit: Thought I'd add, I do have a scalp condition, and it needs to be washed every other day at worst, or gets very itchy and flakey. To keep it mostly flake free it needs to be washed every day. I never was talking about washing the system, just my scalp. For someone with my scalp, I wouldn't like to see what it would look like after a week of no washing, probably grow an extra head on there or something :D

I understand. Did someone find out you were wearing, and you had to kill them to stop the truth getting out? :D

I had his temple hair with some fava beans and a nice bottle of Chianti.
