washing minoxidil after 4-5 hours of application; same result?

I have been on this topical sh*t for years, ( usually i apply it at night), and i can't stand the itch anymore( as well as flaking etc)
IS it possible to wash the stuff 5 hours after the application and still get 80% of the result?
