1) When does a normal mature hairline stop and receding one begin? What's the best way in distinguishing between the two?

2) If your hairline has just started receding and not visible to other people and you start using a combination of Propecia and Minoxidil, are you virtually guaranteed to indefinitely prevent further recession?

3) Is Minoxidil really inconvenient? Does it take long to apply, and do you have to wait a long time to use hairstyling products after application? Is it practically impossible to hide the fact you're applying it to say a flatmate or a girlfriend?

Thanks in advance x

Hi bobblehatbob

1) I don't think anyone really knows the answer to that. Perhaps if you see that you hairline has moved backwards but has stabilised and not moved for a few years then it's just a mature hairline- if it keeps moving then it's probably male pattern baldness! I was faced with exactly the same dilemma and chose to treat my loss before I was even able to find out it whether it was just a mature hairline - that said, I don't regret my decision.

2) Nothing's guaranteed, but you stand a good chance of keeping what you've got until something better comes along

3) Nah, it's not too bad. It's a little oily but dries with 20-30 minutes and is pretty much unnoticeable after that.
