liquid is better

start finasteride to stop your hairloss

minoxidil does not work longterm as you see now

I want to do the same, to switch from liquid to foam. Because the liquid makes my hairs stick together and look thinner, it's also a pain in the *** to apply as it runs straight to my forehead/sides in a fraction of second.
Would switching to the foam cause shedding/not be effective?
I mention that i now currently use Spectral DNC, in my opinion it is more effective than usual Kirkland liquid, and also it makes my scalp very healthy(Kirkland used to give me rashes, red irritations and big flakes). But its texture is not so good when it comes to how hair looks after applying it. Kirkland was colorless.

Do you take finasteride or are you considering? I really want to try the finasteride minoxidil combo and see how thick I can get my hair- of course I'm just scared of sides like everybody else

The longer you wait to start finasteride the more hair you will lose, harsh but true. Dont count on being able to start finasteride and thicken up or regrow.

Thats not how finasteride works, in the majority of cases it will just stop/ slow further loss so the sooner you start the better.
