Use minoxidil or not?

I've been taking 1.25mg finasteride daily for about 8 months, and haven't been able to tell whether I've been seeing any regrowth or not. It's definitely not where I want to be, I know that. During this time, I've also been using Nizoral 2-3 times/week.

I've been weary of using minoxidil because of the lifetime commitment you need to make to it. Do I need to take it now? Or at all, since I already use nizoral? I'd probably be taking Rogaine Foam which is 5%, are there stronger versions?

I don't know the extent of your hairloss is, but what norwood are you?

From experience, finasteride is great at keeping your hair - rubbish hair stimulator. It can, in some people grow hair but specifically in the crown. From the website of propecia, it can take up to one year. If nothing happens, nothing will. But don't stop taking it! It would have kept your existing hair!

Minoxidil is great at growing hair at the crown and frontal area (not temples)! So maybe you can give it a try, if you have no existing health problems! As many people will say - seek medical advice!

If I were to use it, it would be at the crown as my hairline is pretty good. Can I just apply it nightly for it to be effective?

Just try it to see if it's worth the hassle, or else you might regret it later.

If the results aren´t what you hoped they would be, you can always drop it.

After a while you dont care about applying it, it just becomes a part of your routine.

minoxidil is WAY beter than nizoral. Nizoral is just an extra imo, it doesnt do that much (not compared to finasteride and minoxidil anyway).

I'm in the same boat you are shootingguard, except I haven't been on Propecia as long (only a month for me so far). I've been debating taking Minoxodil to get regrowth in my obvious areas, but I know that once I start Rogaine foam I'll need to be on it for life, which is fine as long as it can be used as a styler as well, but I'm thinking I might give Propecia half a year more or so (6-8 months) to see what it can do on its own.

TeddyRuxpin said it all mostly. I saw a video of a guy on youtube that documented his progress of hair regrowth on Propecia alone, using nothing else. He actually did get moderate hair regrowth results but it took him like a year to get them. From what I understand too though is age and genetics are factor in seeing regrowth. I should mention, that same guy on youtube then started using Minoxodil and laser comb and his hair regrowth was dramatic from all 3 working synergistically. I think ultimately the choice lies with you. If you aren't happy with what Propecia has given you back after a year, and you decide you want more hair, then the choice is obvious - start minoxidil. I know that will be my course of action after about 8 months if I'm not happy.
