Use increased dosage of finasteride rather than use dutasteride?

I am curious why no one talks/recommends using an increased dosage of finasteride to fight hairloss if one is not completely satisfied with their hair regrowth progress?

If one is currently using 1mg finasteride daily, why is there a jump directly to dutasteride. Shouldn't people try 2.5mg finasteride daily or 5mg finasteride first? Is there something I am missing? Maybe people have side effects from finasteride and think they won't from dutasteride? Or, is it because people generally think that if they don't respond to 1mg finasteride, that they would rather go to some other drug than stick with finasteride? Thanks.

some people do do this but studies have shown very little difference in DHT inhibtion between 0.2mg - 5mg of finasteride.

Oh really? I didn't know that 5mg finasteride would be more likely to grow moobs on someone than dutasteride. I guess I assumed that 5mg finasteride would be less scary side-effects wise than dutasteride.

You could take .5mg of dutasteride once every 5-7 days rather then taking 5mg of finasteride daily. The results would be approx the same, perhaps slightly better with sut because it inhibits type I and II enzymes.
