hi all,
im 10 mth on minoxidil with slight improvment
also 4 mth 0.25mg finasteride
and nizoral 2%
in the last days i fell i'm going back to the sad old days

every time i reach to the end of the kirkland minoxidil bottle i fell it's not effective anymore, (every bottle lasts 4 mouth)

maybe i need to add spironolactone or change to rogaine foam?
please suggest me what to do

by the way, this is my story http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions ... highlight=
thanks,
avi

Why don't you try increasing your dose of minoxidil to the recommended amount? You're only using 1/2 ml per day. Switch to the foam if you want, but use the correct amount.

You say that you're unhappy with your results, but also that the recommended dosages for the finasteride and minoxidil are too big? :? I have to admit, that confuses me a bit.

I would just take/apply the recommended dosages for finasteride and minoxidil, rather than adding anything to the regimen at this time :) results are dose dependent for both drugs!

Just my 2c :)

i thought that i only have to "wet" the treating area also if it's less then 1ml
0.25ml it's engough for the front, no?

I would use the recommended amount as stated on the bottle, at least to start off with anyway.

And why are you only taking a quarter of the recommended finasteride dose? Again, if you're unhappy with your results, this would seem like the obvious thing to do :)

Or did you reduce the dosage becuase of sides etc?

i never tried 1mg finasteride i've took 0.25mg finasteride from day one.
researchs have shown that it's almost the same.
it's also saves money and less chance to side effectes

Fine, then stay with .25 mg of finasteride. I agree it may be almost as effective but you HAVE to increase your dose of minoxidil. 1/2 ml per day is apparently not enough. I don't recommend that you add anything to your regimen until you try this for a few months.

maybe it's will be better to switch to the foam because 1ml per day will leak all over my face

Good call on the foam, it's way better than the liquid, in just about every way :)

Still can't agree with you on the finasteride side of things though. As someone said on another thread of yours, the difference between 0.25mg and 1mg finasteride is roughly the same as that between 1mg finasteride and 0.5mg dutasteride. So a significant difference.

finasteride is also not expensive if you buy generic 5mg and cut it up into quarters or fifths. It will last 4/5 months for about $40 inc postage. a small price to pay for hair IMO.

If you get sides, cut back the dosage.

It just seems odd to me that you'd want to add more to the regimen when the obvious thing to do is take the recommended dose of what you're already taking.

These were Merck's own results studying finasteride at various doses for hair loss. Thanks to Bryan for providing this data.
