i had ringworm back in november, i wash my hair everyday, but as of tonight, im losing TONS of hair in my crown region, in a little bald patch the size of a quater, the hairs are full length, non miniaturized hairs, and do not have the little white bulb, the area looks pink, could it be ringworm again? and how?!, i heard it might be alopecia but no one has that in my family line? what the hell is going on?! when i pull on the hairs in the region where the hairs falling ot, they pull out super easy, but other areas in my crown are fine and i cant pull out any hairs, theres no derm i can visit within a 4 hour drive from here, can anyone help me or might no what this might be?!

hey Kerz, I guess the derm will give you more definate answers than most people on these boards. I'm probably the last person qualified to give advice, but I remember reading somewhere that small circle shaped bald spots is not male pattern baldness in any way. For some reason, I think its something that happens to young children....Yeah, I know this wasn;t helpful :dunno: Anyways, you gotta love the fact that the hairloss gene is nowhere in your family.

Telogen Effluvium be honest, it looks more like a maturing hairline.. I may be wrong, but your hair looks good to me. How old are you?

As for the red spots, I think those are moles or scabs, I have them too... no clue what they are lol, I can only see them if I shave.

Id go on Rogain/minoxidil just incase, at the very least it will maintain your hair if this is infact hairloss, and it will most likely fill in that top hairloss you have. Be prepared for possible shedding in the first month though.. some people don't have it, but some people do (me..)

Goodluck, don't stress about it, cause that will cause hairloss ;)

well, the red spots, they get bigger and bigger, and fill with like puss, they feel like bubble wrap bubbles, and when they pop, white puss comes out and the hair thats on the bubble falls out, although it does grow back, i also think my hairline is jsut mature, but its these frequent spots that keep showing up. and im 18 and a half years old

heres a pic of my crown like 2 months ago, when the previous bald spots form ringworm went away, that have now seemed to reappeared

Re: maybe some help guys..PICS OF MATERNAL GRANDFATHER, MAY 16TH

sorry for the multiple posts, but im visiting my grandmother today and i was going through some old photo album, and i came across pics of my maternal grandfather, in these pics he is 27 years old, according to my grandma, he wasnt losing his hair, and his brother wasnt either, at that time, although he appears to have no temporal peak, i previously posted a pic of him and everyone pegged him as a norwood 3, to me he looks like a nw2 with no temporal peaks, my grandma said he did not have any thinning or loss but heres the pics, im sorry bout the quality..it just kinda sucks cause i have never met my maternal grandpa, he died when my mom was little, and him and his brother we adopted, so no one knows bout the history of hair for him, but even my grandmas brothers, they died in their 80's with almost 0 hair loss and she said her dad died from influenza at like 50 years old but she said he wasnt balding either. my dads side is crazy, EVERY male has their hair till their bout their mid 80's. i realize i have a fairly decent background with hair, but its like my maternal grandfather can be the only person who can contribute to male pattern baldness for me, my brother is 27, no loss either.

Re: maybe some help guys..PICS OF MATERNAL GRANDFATHER, MAY 16TH

Hmm, not being in the family = huge bonus.

I noticed something odd... if you look at a recent pic of you right now, then look at that pic of you when you were 12, your hairline at its peak almost looks further forward now?

I could be wrong but maby that's giving an illusion of a bad front hairline? I just don't see anything that could qualify as hairloss.. it just looks like a maturing hairline with maby the ringworm causing random bald spots. You're grandfather had a much larger forehead i think, his hairline was all together, but farther back then yours.

I dunno dude.. all I see is a maturing hairline, I could be wrong.. but I doubt you will ever pass a nw2 or 3, even at 90. ive never noticed that about my moles.. then again, i never paid any attention to them, ill see if mine do that too.

Its definately not male pattern baldness. You have a mature hairline which looks totally awesome I might add. It looks much more masculine than a lower hairline.

The small bald spots on the back of your head when shaved looked a lot like alopecia areata to me, which often produces small regions of patchy baldness (not related to male pattern baldness). Often the hair grows back within 2 weeks to 5 years! Sometimes it never grows back. Do you have a history of alopecia areata in your family?

If you don't know what it is just do a quick google on it and you will get some great info.

also the reason it looks lower is because i have a widows peak that i shave off, and i believe its still intact now where as when i was 12 i shaved it, well heres some pics of my frontal hairline

Dude seriously your hairline looks great! But if you're really unhappy with it you can look into hair transplant surgery to restore your juvenile hairline. But in my personal opinion they dont look as good as the mature hairline. The widows peak also ascentuates the reccession (if any) as you say.

Re: finally went to a derm- updated may 21st

i just got back from a derm, i have folliculitis, not ringworm after all, he prescribed me acutane? he said that should clear it up, also, one more good thing, no signs of baldness yet, he said theres just lots of tiny scars on my head left from untreated folliculitis

Re: finally went to a derm- updated may 21st

yeah it has kinda put me at ease about it, at least knowing right now at this point in time my hair is ok. but i have another question, i asked the derm when i went to see him, he told me that sometimes that a mature hairline pattern does not include temporal peaks, and that is perfectly normal, is this true? i know on the show trailer park boys, one of the main characters named ricky, has really thick hair, and has no temporal peaks, thats the only person i know where their hair is awesome with no temporal peaks. so is that normal for some people not to have them and not be balding?

im just wondering if you guys think my hairline is similiar to my brothers, he is 27, and i dont think hes experiencing any loss either(he does have a scar on the front of his head), where i do see similiarities is the temples, his used to be big triangles, they are now smaller, but intact much like my dads, think im in the same boat as that?
