Update on my situation

After using minoxidil 2%, once a day for 2 weeks and stopping Propecia for 3 days, my hairloss went up to 40-50 per day. This is crazy!!! I take propecia, I shed, I stop and I shed somemore.

Am I that reactive to Propecia or is it due to minoxidil? Although I previously used minoxidil for a year ( before I stopped) and I did not notice any increase in hairloss.

One thing though, is that after consulting Dr Lee online, I have started propecia again after stopping for 3 days.

Can anyone post their experiences on:
how long the sheds last?
how many hair they lose per day during the shed?
and how many hair they lose per day after the shed ended?

There is an article in this month's HairLossTalk.com newsletter about shedding and talks about 'not counting hairs' because it can make you go crazy.

I didn't have a major shed when starting the big 3 - about 3 months in it stopped my previous shedding. I was shedding quite a bit before (shower, pillow etc.), and now I just have maybe a few hairs in the shower after I wash my hair.

Keep in mind that any hair you lose today already went into the resting phase long before, perhaps as much as 100 days ago.

Starting and stopping meds is basically a bad idea. You really have to ride things out for at least 6-12 months, and then reasses from there. I know it's tough - just try to work it into your daily routine and put it out of your mind afterwards.

Also - I'd get on 5% minoxidil. 2% is not all that effective. Make sure you're using Nizoral at least a couple times a week as well.

Damn that's good to hear that your'e back on propecia. Remeber with or with out propecia you may lose your hair. YOu just have a better chance of not losing it on propecia.

Don't, I repeat DON't play around with minoxidil. People make the mistake of going on and off, like it's a recreational drug. IT's not. TO benefit from minoxidil you have to use it religiously twice a day(1ml) for life, or until you want to end your hairloss battle.

1.) NObody's going to be able to tell you how long your shed will last. The bodies not a computer and everybody is different. YOu may be even sheeding a lot due to your diet etc.

2.)They say it's normal to shed 20-100 hairs a day. It's not important, it's how they grow back which is important.

3.)Agaiin with this proposed normal 20-100 hairs, it would be impossible to tell a minoxidil-propecia shed form everyday normal loss.

LOOK for miniturization, plain and simple

MINOXIDIL CAN CAUSE A SHED AFTER 2 WEEKS OF USE.

I swear this question is answered 40 times a day. Plus it says so in the instructions for use.
