Here are the basics: 34 years old, blond..hair similar to Gunner and Rammer (from what I recall of his pics).
Started asymetrical thinning around 22...not very noticeable. By 27, was getting diffuse, and the male pattern baldness "bald spot" was growing up top/back. Seemed to stay about the same for years...THIN. Tried finasteride once, back in 2000, had VERY high sex drive for a few weeks, then low...stopped taking. This is interesting as you will read below.
Started minoxidil a couple times, didn't see much. Started SERIOUSLY, with daily double application on Sept. 6, 2003. Have used throughout. Got some gains and thickening on it.
Started finasteride, on July 15, 2004, ordered from Propeciaforless.com (real Merck brand) and also from Cipla..have used interchangeably.
Results:
Been on finasteride then, with the exception of about a 6 week break (stupid), for 9 months..so let's say, 3 months since I started back up. Been on minoxidil about a year and a half.
EXCELLENT results, whole head is filling in. Bald spot (which still have great potential due to little hairs everywhere that were not dea), is filling in. Fortunately, my bald spot was not "slick" but had tons of little blonde hairs. They are filling in, thickening up, getting darker blonde. Each time I shave it, with either a blade or "no guard" (yes you read that right, it just leaves a "shadow") I notice that back crown area is looking more and more normal like the rest of the head.
Hairline is getting stronger too. Hair JUST went over, in my estimation, the "acceptable cosmetic" boundary. Here's why.
Although my crown still needs to fill in, and I look 34 because you can tell there is some loss, the hairline and front is "full"...it has a "fullness" and dark shadow, opposed to noticeable thinning in the light.
I am amongst brothers so I will be honest and you can take this for whatever it's worth. I am a good looking, VERY fit guy. Never had any problem getting women, even with a shaved head. But I DO look better with even just a slight amount of hair (half inch) on my head, to offset my face, and provide a frame for my face.
Since letting it grow just a little bit, to where I do not look like I have a shaved head, but just short hair...I have seen my ability to pick up women go WAY up. I have tested my this by doing the same things I did the last few years, and more women have been responsive, including names, numbers, calling me, emailing, etc.
My conclusion is, if you are at least average looking, is that having SOME hair, meaning a strong hairline and at least, not a HUGE bald spot, it pushes you over the edge as far as looks. I suggest for anyone, stay with the course, get at least a shadow of hair on your hairline, and if your crown has not filled in, keep your hair short. Very short.
I have had ZERO side effects this time (as opposed to the five weeks or so I was on finasteride back in 2000). My erections are strong and frequent. I do not know why this time around, I have had no issues with finasteride. Maybe age?
minoxidil is easy to apply, I do it 1-3 times a day, usually 2 times. I take 1mg of Merck (or 1.25 of Cipla on weekends) at nite.
I don't see me stopping the treatments anytime soon. The woman I am dating, off and on, is aware of my treatments, and has commented that they are working (she met me bald and likes me either way, but does like the blonde hair).
STICK WITH IT ! be consistent, and patient. Keep your hair short, and do not expect to have your teenage hair ... look at the guys around you, you do NOT have to have super-thick hair to be sexy or look good...just a decent hairline, and enough hair on the crown to not look like a horseshoe !
