25 years old and I have been thinning for 2 years. Hopped on minoxidil right when I first noticed, slowed it down but crown and corners are getting thinner slowly.

Debating propecia, I have read everything I can find on it and just debating if the potential benefits outweigh the potential side effects. Looks like every body is different and you really can only find out buy trial and error.

I had heard nothing of this RU product until I signed up here- can anybody give me some info or even links to good threads. Studies would be great and just general info- I'm assuming it's not FDA approved since I haven't heard of it or from my derm. Thanks everybody

it's an experimental treatment which has had no proper impartial scientifc trials conducted on its effectiveness or safety.

You have to buy the raw ingredients at great expense from somebody in China and then mix it up in your own basement. If that doesn't deter you, then knock yourself out

From looking at forum posts those that claim success with RU tend to be shills or on other treatments. Its not that difficult to mix your own RU if you want to go down that route but finasteride would be a better starting point

no one has bothered to take good before/afters with an RU only regimen yet. Hellouser kind of did but he has used it on/off I think

all we need is 1 documented case to at least know it works for some

@Sportsfan12,

It's good that you evaluate all options. RU-58841 is definitely proven as an effective compound, the major advantage is no hormonal changes (DHT, Estrogen etc). Although it has cons to it too obviously. Something you should research and assess for yourself. There are huge topics around on other forums about RU I would suggest you to take a look there to get a grasp of how RU works and see for user experience. It isn't FDA approved indeed though. Good luck.

Considering propecia I'm just scared of long term effects. I want to have kids and messing with the sperm freaks me out not to mention the occasional gyno stories. At the same time seeing my hair get thinner by the day SUCKS considering my older brother and dad have a ton of hair :/

the low sperm counts of finasteride aren't a big deal. If it caused men to be permanently unable to have children we would hear about it. I've never even heard of a single instance in which someone claimed this, and that's saying a lot if you know of all the things people like to accuse finasteride of doing to them

Its not been proven at all, not by labs or the hair loss community. Not one single credible success report online.
