Well for me since I actually experienced decent regrowth with minoxidil, at first I just felt like freedom not being a slave to minoxidil applying that crap twice a day and waiting for it to dry and having to time my daily events around minoxidil drying.
I started my minoxidil treatment (coincidentally) from a 0 guard buzzcut after I was frustrated with my hair, back then I thought my hair was absolute crap but atm I'd literally kill to have my hair like it was back then. So I never really experienced or noticed a shed, I didn't even care about anything, I just applied it twice a day thinking it's not gonna work anyway but who cares I'll give it a try. I did take pictures and saw immediate progress after a few months that only got better with time. For all I know there *could* have been an initial shed but I never even noticed it since my hair was buzzcut very short and since I wasn't even aware about minoxidil shedding I did not look for it.
So back to me stopping minoxidil, I knew it was gonna happen, I looked in the mirror every day. I can't recall exactly but somewhere around 1-2 months I started losing ground and from there I lost quite a bit.
Since you've just started shedding I doubt you will shed more. It sounds to be you will most likely recover what you shed in about 4 months.
Another thing to consider is if the foam version without PPG causes unbearable irritation then I don't know what else you could try regarding minoxidil. I guess you could try the liquid version altho logic would say that if foam causes irritation then liquid would causes at least as much.
You're in a bit of a tricky situation. You say the foam causes you itching but it's still bearable somewhat right? But on the other hand you been shedding a lot right off the bat. Perhaps someone else could chime in that had a shed similar to urs then regrew after a while, then perhaps it could be worth it to continue minoxidil, as long as the itching is bearable.
Well best of luck! Keep us updated with your minoxidil progress.
