Ugh, help!

Ok, so I threw Nizoral into my routine, 2% once every 3 days. I use Jason's tea tree oil shampoo before to prep the scalp, with Jason's tea tree conditioner after to moisturize. I had been using Propecia 1 mg for 4 years when a month ago I started on the nizoral.

Problem - when I apply the nizoral, I carefully but consistently rub it in with my finger tips to ensure contact with my scalp. I let sit for 5 minutes but when I wash it out, I notice between 7-15 hairs coming out on my hands, mostly full and dark. I am fairly sure it is a direct result of the friction of working it into my scalp that breaks hair off in the process. I am hesitant to write this off as a shed as I just started using it and the hairs are dark, and it is exactly what used to happen in the shower early in my hairloss. Before I started nizoral, in the last year I have had virtually no hairs come off when I used regular shampoo. Suddenly, all these hairs - I know people say to stick it out, but how can one be sure it is a shed and not due to friction? If it is friction what should I do, is there any less harsh way to rub it on? I don't want to keep this routine if I'm doing more damage than good. Thanks.

people always shed...its part of the hair cycle.

Look at a womens brush...its normal.

But I'm saying I wasn't before I began using it and still don't on the off days.

Perhaps you're only noticing it more anally now? I used to be worried about hair coming out in the shower as well, so I started showering by the light of three scented candles. You won't even notice, and showers will become a more enjoyable experience.

In either case, my advice is just to not think about it. Remember, out of sight out of mind.

Nope. I always checked my hands rigorously for hair. It stopped when I use normal shampoo but I have 10-15 when using nizoral. Makes no sense.

There's a warning on the packet about possible hairloss. It does cause a shed in some people.

Excellent username...should I stop using it?

You are saying that on days you use nizoral hair falls out, but if you use a different shampoo on the next day for example no hair falls out?

So pretty much Nizoral instantly causes hair to fall out of the scalp the moment it is applied? Must be a anti-miracle product, I should rub some around my bum crack.

Why would I make this up?

I didn't say you did, but I just rubbed a bottle full around my bum crack and it is still just as dense down there.

Very disappointed, file this one as another snake oil.

You could be allergic to it. More than likely what you are experiencing is just a coincidence, because unless someone poured Nair into your Nizoral bottle it is not causing spontaneous shedding.

Please educate yourself a bit on the science of hair loss, learn about anagen, catagen, and telogen phases, and understand that even if Nizoral DID make you shed, you probably wouldn't see it for another 4-8 weeks.

So then what might be the problem? I am still having multiple hairs come out when I apply the Nizroal ONLY, on the off days I have none. This makes no sense, I am beginning to get really frustrated. I don't want to stop nizoral because it could help, but it is clearly accelerating my hairloss a bit.
