Typical 19 y o maturing or male pattern baldness help ! (Pictures)

Hi, first of all I am 19 years old my father is a full Norwood 1000 since a long time ago and told me he was already noticeably thinning by 19 years old. His father started to bald by age thirty but still has more hair then him. One of his brother has a full head of hair and the other had lost a bit of hair in his 50's. Fortunately I am not at the same stage as my father was yet and am still hoping I might juste have a maturing hairline from the genes on my mother's side(Her father is 80+ with very nice hair). I do have some recession compared to 6-8 months ago in the corner of my hairline and small hair. I took an appointment with a dermatologist but I am a bit obsessed about it and I would have liked to have some feedback from the people on the forum. I started finasteride this week. I do not shed hair when I wear a tuque or what I consider a normal amount of hair in the shower, in fact less then my girlfriend. Thank you all.

Ok, my say is not a diagnosis nor is it in anyway confirmation what I say is right. But, here it is and what to look for..... Your first picture has a nice U-shape which does not tell anything to a naked, "mild" eye. The true early signs are in your temples/areas. Your temple has gone deeper than for a mature hairline. Hair around in temple area and side burns show some "distress", bad quality hair. You will notice in pic 2 and 4 that you have a "dimple" shape area that is deprived of hair. Just imagine hair in those areas, and you would notice that you would have had nice solid hairline otherwise. It seems like it you have very early signs. Temples are first to go while you have dense thick hair on top that covers and hides the hairless region in temples for years-years that are dependent on each individual how quick they start thinning on top and thus, cant hide the hairless region anymore.

When you were child or before puberty, you would notice that you had a "wall to wall" solid horzintal hairline in aligned with the hairline that borders sideburns. As you mature, your frontal hairline goes backward making your forehead larger or more apparent. The top frontal hairline no longer aligns with the hairline of your sideburns. That would have been just so called mature hairline. But, if you add to this equation, the deep temple area far back what I called plain "dimple", then it is not looking good what to come. So, if you have it, then it is in very early stages. You are young, so it confirms that it is time for early signs to settle in and usher in xxxxxx....... But, this is all my observation and I could be totally wrong and out of line.... but please keep us all informed

I will try to compile some treatment summaries to post here, encompassing what one can do medicinally, "semi-medicinally", or the least one can do without the fear of drugs/side effects, the home remedies... but for now for you, the top, all the way success is in finasteride., but you are still too young for that remedy and for varied reasons it might have later reproductive problems in your off-spring etc......

Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your opinion. Yes I too think I am in early stages as I started noticing the hairline of people in general and I think this hairline is quite common for men in their late 20's early 30's and even mine is more receded which is not good for a 19 year old. I got started on finasteride this week I don't think I have to be worried for my development as I got the prescription from my parents and they told me I' be fine. I don't plan to take it all my life I don't mind balding in my late 20's as it seems to be my destiny but it is still a bit sad to be balding in your early 20's like my father did. I would still like some other opinions and maybe the development of male pattern baldness of people who were similar to mine. A weird thing is I don't lose that much hair in the shower and there is nothing on my pillow etc. (but my hairline was not like it is now 1 years and a half ago.) Is this happening to some of you ? And for the people of finasteride does it affects your motivation and drive this is what worries me a bit... Thanks
