Twins

Just been watching a TV program (UK) about cosmetics and whether various claims were justified. For a short section they talked about baldness. They used an example of twins. Both looked in their twenties. Anyway, both were balding (mostly crown I think) and one decided to see a specialist. He started on finasteride and Minoxidil. The other thought it would be a waste of time. After a year there was a significant improvement - pictures were shown as well as the actual people involved. The other brother decided to start after seeing teh success of his brother and he improved over the next year but not to the same degree as the first. The first continued to improve.

So their conclusion was that these two substances did work and the earlier you start the better. I know we all knew that but it is nice to see actual results. The TV program is a respected one.

Just wondering. Would Finisteride improve the quality of your hair if you didn't have male pattern baldness?

I recorded the balding section on my Sky box HD and have transferred it to a dvd. I will get some stills from it tomorrow. Is there an easy way of attaching images to this forum?

you DONT want to take a pill that adjusts your hormone levels if youre not going bald..its not a vitamin, its still a medication. Why would anyone who isnt balding want to tamper with delicate hormonal levels

Guys,

Read this goddammit and learn.

The alpha five type two reductase enzymes occur in TWO FUCKKING PLACES in your bodies. The innermost portion of the outer root sheath of you hair follicles and your prostate.

DHT is quickly deactivated when it enters any muscle tissue by another hormone called 3-alpha-hydro--something-long-and-ridiculously-scientific-sounding. SO DHT has practically no effect on your muscles.

Ive been on finasteride for over a decade, with no side effects to speak of. Im just as cranky and horny as I ever was.

Even if you weren't receeding, finas would probably be beneficial to your hair and make it look better unless you have no baldness genetics whatsoever and were going to keep your hairline until you were an eighty year old.

We have a biological precedent of men who are BORN WITHOUT THE TYPE 2 ALPHA FIVE REDUCTASE ENZYME. These men live long, happy lives and have children, etc. Yep, their sprem counts will probaby be a little lower than yours, they wont have as much body hair as you do, their beards might not be quite as thick as yours, but their head hair will be much better than yours. Their acne probably wont be drastically better, but should be a little better. Their muscles will be no different. They will have less incidence of prostate problems if any at all. Doesn't sound like such a bad deal to me............................

Finas is safe. Dutasteride, which inhibits type one alpha five at a fifty percent clip, might have more side effects of a more dangerous nature since type one alpha five reductase is in your brain, liver, adrenal glands, kidneys as well as chest and back skin. There may be consequences of being on it for thirty years..........................but then again there may not be. Its not known..........yet.

The same question as DML

Just wondering. Would Finisteride improve the quality of your hair if you didn't have male pattern baldness?

Or in others words
Is finasteride a preventive method?

I've looked through the film again and there was another picture comparing twin 1 and 2 and twin 1 had slighty less hair that in the image I've given. It could have been at a different time of comparison. The program relates that that twin 1 had been treated for 3 years.

I can put the audio of the program for this study on here if someone tells me which program I need to share audio on this forum. It is an mp3 file and lasts 3 min.
