- I am 17 years old.
- I have see through hair in the front and a very thin/balding crown.
- I was on finpecia for 3 months before quitting.
- I had only Brain fog as a side effect symptom.
- I've been on Rogaine twice a day for over a year, and just started/hated starting S5 cream, currently on a very irregular but daily basis.
Being 17, taking this drug is even more of a stressing question than it would be if I were 21 and balding. My hair has drastically worsened since I first noticed I was going bald, so I need to act now if I have any hope of keeping the little I have left.
As I said, I only noticed a slight, very mild fogginess some days while on the drug. This is probably hormonal, and its definitely something that I would love to be able to counteract (if anyone has any remedies in mind?) if I begin taking it and experience it again.
However, being 17, its possible that I'm "not out of the woods yet" with puberty. I can't grow a full beard yet, for instance. Another concern of mine is that I am not yet done growing.
Propecia can, as far as I've been able to research, theoretically halt growth due to the influx of estrogen caused by inhibiting the production of DHT. The estrogen fuses the growth plates prematurely if they are not already so fused.
So, I want to know if I'm done growing. To confirm or deny this, I am trying to get in to take an x-ray of my growth plates. In the event that they are fused, then I will feel a little better taking the drug, knowing it isn't stunting my growth.
I also suppose I should take a blood test for a baseline, but I am not sure if my hormone levels are rebalanced after quitting the drug (about a month ago).
So, my main questions are:
-Does anyone here know of a way to deter hormonal production of estrogen when taking Finasteride?
-Does anyone know whether or not my blood hormone levels will be normalized or rebalanced by now after not taking finasteride for a month?
-What other baseline tests should I do or have done in order to be properly informed on whether or not I am experiencing any adverse side effects?
