Try just finasteride for a year or straight on minoxidil too?

Age 33. Noticed some thinning in the crown as much as ten years ago and imperceptible slight thinning of left temple, but then neither did anything for years as far as I could tell. And the amount they had gone was not a bother to me.

Last couple of years or so it has deteriorated more as you can see. Basically not long after turning 30 my hair started to go down hill a little and in the last six months I had some bad shedding for a while. It seems quite stable right now but who knows how long that will last.

Anyway, what are the chances my crown fills in on just finasteride and no minoxidil? I can use minoxidil too and actually already have some, but if I have say a 40% chance of it filling in to a cosmetically acceptable degree with just finasteride then I will try that first. If its more like 10% I might just go straight on minoxidil too.

What do you guys think?

If I were in your situation I'd go ahead with the minoxidil simply because finasteride will probably just stop hairloss and not necessarily regrow a lot.

I remember reading that about 40% of the men on finasteride in the FDA trials stopped hairloss without regrowth, and about another 40% stopped hairloss with regrowth, though the extent of it wasn't specified and probably varies from one person to the next.

If 40% is encouraging to you, then try finasteride alone for a year without minoxidil. You might want to add Nizoral shampoo though.

Oh ive already started using nizoral oed. Thats no problem. I was just wondering if my crown still has sufficient enough all over coverage that I might have a better than average shot of seeing it fill in with just finasteride. I guess ill just have to take a gamble.
