Hmm, people just lovvvve herbal remedies. Not sure why that is. Maybe its that whole history we have as humans for worshipping hundreds of gods and drowning witches and thinking that evil spirits cause sneezes. The Renaissance didn't reach everyone it seems. :)

Ladies, its good to hear that some of you are seeing results in Tricomin. Don't give up that fight to find out what underlying causes may be the culprit of your hair loss.

I think a lot of us unconsciously buy into the "natural is always better" assumption. Kind of like, being a vegatarian MUST be healthier, right? Well, not necessarily so.

Easy assumptions like that help many of us sleep better at night, even if they are bullshit!

When was the last time you saw a vegetarian that looked healthier than someone who eats meat AND veggies? My step-mom was a chicken 2 times a week and nothing but veggies otherwise person...I swear to christ I've never seen a more frail and sickly looking person in my life. My pop soon changed her tho. She makes me so proud. A 115 pound woman eating a 200 pound steak. Sniffle...makes me wish she was my real mom!

Needless to say, she's been so much healthier and energetic lately. No more mood swings...she's a regular person.

Meat is great. Protien be where it's at foo!

I agree. My ex-wife is a veggie head and looks like a real turd--washed out and flabby. But of course, I am not unbiased in this assessment!

I don't know too many vegetarians, but the ones I know are overweight and pasty-looking.

As far as herbal remedies, you can't discount all of them. In my experience, some have not worked at all, and a few have worked well. There is no standardizaion in the herbal stuff. And, we are self-medicating ourselves. LOL If you don't have enough information, you can harm yourself or , at least, your pocketbook.
If we only could find GREAT doctors, we wouldn't do herbs blindly, and we probably wouldn't be reading/posting this forum. :)

As surprising as this may sound, I am a strong proponent of herbal remedies for many physical ailements. Everything from Acidophilus (to fix irregularity while in antibiotics or irregularity caused by other things) to Milk Thistle (For liver health), to Serrapeptase (as an anti-inflammatory/pain killer replacement for typical pain killers and NSAIDS), to Green Tea for overall cleansing .... and I swear by all of them. They work and work well for me.

The problem in *not* discounting all of them for hair loss however, is that its not an instant result type of situation. With acidophilus, I can take it, and within about 6 hours tell that it has completely *CURED* my irregularity. With herbal supplements for hair, there is no telling whether its working or not, and it would take a minimum of 6 months to a year to even begin to find out.

As a result, we tend to strongly discourage herbal remedies as the solution, at least for the men in our forums. We understand that women have a significantly smaller arsenal of proven treatments, and scientists have a much foggier understanding of what causes their hair loss than with men.

So for women, we don't discourage experimentation as much... but it should be stated with confidence that there *is* risk in trying herbal over proven, even for women... and we actually *do* suggest avoiding herbal supplements for hair loss as there is no clinical evidence (like there is with Milk Thistle, Acidophilus, Serrapeptase, etc) that any of them help hair loss. Thats another significant point actually ... there *are* more and more herbal treatments being studied clinically, and as such I am all over them like a fat kid on cake, but we just don't have that for hair loss remedies yet.

Its a risk to the pocketbook, and more importantly to the hair. If the person is an adult though, has fully educated themselves on whats out there, and makes the decision to risk it, then more power to 'em!

I had a quick question. I just got my order of the Tricomin pack and it says to shampoo and condition daily. Is this essential? I have never washed my hair on a daily basis..ust everyother day and was wondering if doing that was going to decrease the possible effectiveness. Of course I will use the solution spray everyday.

HairlossTalk,

I am curious, what liver ailment is Milk Thistle alleviating for you?

OK, I'm confused. Don't all the *medical* treatments take as long to begin working? Rogaine, spironolactone, etc....? What standard medical treatments work faster?

I agree that many herbal products don't work. Like you, however, I have had success with many for particular problems. The thing is, seems to me there isn't a lot of clinical success with the standard treatments either. Is 19% *mild* success rate with Rogaine supposed to leave me overly hopeful? My Dr. wouldn't give me a blood pressure, or heart medication and tell me it's got a 19% chance of maybe working.... I know hairloss is different. But it seems there aren't many good options period.

tricomin has side effect?

Does anyone know if Tricomin has side effects like Rogaine? Will I experience increased shedding? And is it really effective used alone, without Rogaine?

I was wondering also if there is an increase in shedding. Have been using the product for two weeks and still shedding like mad. I know it takes months to see results, but just wondered.
I use the spray twice daily and the shampoo conditioner every other day.

just an update

Just wanted to let everyone know, I gave up on the Tricomin. The hair loss came back again, so I dug some more to find other alternatives. Upon further research, some might be interested to know a few of the products that we find in just about every shampoo, Sodium Lauryl and Laureth Sulfates, their foaming agents, are actually quite bad for us. They've been linked to cancer, hair loss, etc... The Sodium Laureth seems to be the mildest of them all, but still not a very safe ingredient. So I've tried going as natural as I can. I've switched over to the Shen-Min shampoo, completely natural, I can actually pronounce all the ingredients. lol I also take the Shen-Min vitamins, along w/ MSM, and saw palmetto. I have tried not to use no more styling products than necessary, no mousse or gels, and hairspray only when necessary. Those products are the worse, but I know from experience how hard it is not use them, but I've done ok. The hair loss has minimized again, and the condition of my hair is great, still not as thick as I want it to be, but will keep at it. I also bought a shower filter to take the chlorine out, that's helped too. http://www.Ultimateshower.net has real reasonable prices and doesn't use carbon filters. Just thought I'd share an update and maybe find out some more insight myself. Take care all, and good luck!

Patrips,
thanks so much for the shower filter site. It is something I think about researching, and never do!
My hairdresser has clients who regrew hair after eliminating clorine. And you r natural shampoo route is a sensible addition. This approach was also successful for some of her clients.
Please PM if possible with results, or post your success here, whichever you prefer.

I'm now doing Atkins, which is why I'm not often here. I have eliminated almost all sugar and white flour from my diet. I feel much better, and look lost better.
The new way of eating initially caused a shed, but it has ceased.

Quitting Tricomin was a help to your pocketbook, heck probably pays for the replacement filters. FYI, Dr. Vera Price, the renowned hair loss specialist, says Tricomin DOES NOT work.

At the end of the day, we must follow our hearts.

Seems like nothing is working eventually

Well, at first, I had almost decided to try Tricomin, Folligen and Crinagen as of your positive recommendations. Finally, those medecines made us down again :( Does anyone consider hair surgery transplant? Or any other hopes out there? Personally, things are getting worse for me, I can't use anything to cover my thinning spot anymore even hair clips. Everybody are looking at me which decreases my self-esteem and self-confidence a lot.

Hope there will be some other hopes out there for us.

Anyone wanna share information with me, please do so either here or my personal email address s_napaporn@clickta.com
