Treatment In The 90s - Any Help Please?

Hi All,

I've just joined here to ask if anyone could please help me with a query about a specific hairloss treatment I experienced in the 90s.

It's been driving me a little paranoid because I can't find anywhere else on the net that mentions this, yet it happened to me - for sure. I'd love to know if you guys know of this, maybe had it too, and have any views too.

To give a little background, in around '93 I had a treatment at a clinic near London (crazily I don't even know the name for sure now, I was young and a little dumb) - it was basically a surgical procedure in which they said they would make a small incision in my scalp, which allowed them to go under the sclap then do some kind of 'bruising' underneath with a surgical tool - this was supposed to stimulate hair growth.

I'm not sure the official name for this treatment, and can't seem to see it mentioned elsewhere on these forums - does anyone know of this procedure, or had it done? It doesn't seem to be advertised among current treatments either.

Many thanks in advance for any information if possible.

Simmy.

Hi Biddy, sadly I don't think it was very effective for me, no.
I am however interested to hear if anyone else had it done, and whether it is considered safe to have had. I look back now and wonder why did I let someone operate on me in that way without really knowing what was happening....I'd love to know if anyone else knew of this - perhaps it was called a galen scalp lift (?) is the closest I've found to describing this surgery (but not the scalp reduction which is different I know).
