The Difference between Base Materials: Lace, Mono and thin skin
Just thought I'd share some knowledge about base materials. Base material is one of the most important considerations when you choose a toupee. The 3 most common materials used are lace, mono and thin skin.
Lace
Lace is the most popular base material. French and the finer Swiss lace are soft, undetectable and breathable so they are great for warm weather. However they are not the easiest to clean.
Mono
Short for monofilament, this material is stronger than lace. While some types of mono aren't the most natural looking, it is ideal for long thick hair.
Thin Skin
This material is soft, undetectable and easy to clean. You can use a strong hold glue to keep it attached for several weeks without the need for removal. However it is not a breathable material.:0
