Hi,

I've been on finasteride and min5 for awhile but the walk-in clinic from whom I get my prescriptions is really... how shall we say it... high-strung! I can't get a refill on a prescription, they only give me 3-month supplies at the most (even accidentally got a 1-month this morning- as in one 60 mL bottle of minoxidil- so I'll have to go back and wait for an hour in their lobby again in 4 weeks!) and I really don't want to visit them as often as they need me to (4 - 12 times per year)!

Can anyone recommend a walk-in clinic (or even dermatologist) who's a little less paranoid and demanding? The guys at my clinic are a group of young doctors (mid-30s) who are clearly on some kind of upper when they work, and I really can't tolerate it anymore. I've heard of others who've received one-year prescriptions in Toronto and if anyone has any idea who they might've been talking about, it'd be much appreciated.

Ahh, the battles that we fight when we're trying to keep our hair... :)

Thanks.

I'm in Toronto. Are you looking for a minoxidil refill? I noticed there's so few places that have it. I used to have to go to a special pharmacy in New Market when I started. It cost like $200 for a 3 month supply!!!!! Then I just started to get the same thing from the States for a quarter of the price because they sell it in regular pharmacies there. Is going to Buffalo and getting a bunch of it there out of the question? Hope you don;t get busted by border patrol comming back with a stash of rogaine.

Hmm... you must be... new. Not sure. ;)

Anyway, I'm looking for prescriptions for both finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil 5% (Rogaine). In Canada, unless it's being run by crooks, there are no pharmacies that sell either of those drugs over the counter. It's illegal. You can get minoxidil 2% ('mild' Rogaine, for lack of a better term) but not the 5%. Most of us here are on the 5%, I reckon, and we need prescriptions to get it.

Anyway, you might know that already, not sure. Either way, can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Hey buddy...im actually from the GTA (mississauga). What i suggest you do is not get prescpritions becuz they are not. Jus buy a years supply of ROGAINE foam...on ebay...i got a pack of 12 for i think like $60. If you want a good clinic, i dont remember the name, but its not walk in...try to get a referall to Dr. Eisenbergs...look it up on http://www.canada411.com. The man actually SUGGESTED that I get proscar rather then propecia.

I'm certainly not new to this. I joined in 2004, and started the big 3 back then. I got a prescription for minoxidil 5% from my doctor, after my dermatologist aunt suggested I try it out. The first time I went to shoppers, the lady said I didn;t need a prescription and threw my prescroption away. She said it was availale without one, but that was only 2% (useless.) I eventually had to go back to my doctor and get another prescription. So the pharmacy I got it from was giving me the 5%. It's a special pharmacy and the minoxidil had to be mixed there. All pharmacies here will have propecia, I;ve always been too unsure to buy it online. So, looks like you can do this:
1) get it from the pharmacy in Newmarket.
2) Go to Buffallo and buy some.
3) Order online.

Good luck.

Yeah, I'm just looking to get my prescriptions from a different walk-in clinic than the one I've been going to. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Thanks.

The pharmacy I used to get it from is called "Optimum Compounding Pharmacy" 10171 Yonge st. Richmond Hill. 905-883-6940. Like I said, its pretty costly there, but its definately legit. Hope that helps.

I second that Ebay rocks!! ...way cheaper than any other source when it comes to minoxidil 5%, that's where i get my foam from, and i get my propecia prescribed from my Dr. in Brampton 3 month propecia supply btw.

1. Get the Rogaine foam from Ebay. It's way better than anything you can buy here OTC or otherwise, plus it's cheaper.

2. Get a real doctor. http://www.cpso.on.ca/Doctor_Search/ez_srch.asp?Scr=FIRST Search up a doctor near you that is looking for new patients. They'll likely prescribe Propecia or Proscar if you ask and you can get a prescription for a year. Plus you can make appointments so you don't have to wait. I'm in the doctor's office for a grand total of 5 minutes when I go.

Good luck.
