Hi All -

been off finasteride for a while now as unfortunately it made my nipples swell/hurt, reduced my sex drive, sperm volume and made me somewhat depressed....
Had a massive bout of shedding when I went on it and then all shedding stopped for a period of 3-4 months or so even after I'd been off the finasteride for a good month + I had no shedding... not sure about regrowth but was just happy no more was falling out!!!

Have been utilising in order:
spironolactone - rubbed mainly around temples and top of the head
Tricomin - spray it all over not long after applying spironolactone
Minoxidil - wait 5-10 mins and then spray this on

on my scalp twice daily morning 15% minoxidil, night 5% minoxidil.

Hair is starting to drop out again quite badly -really getting thin all over at the moment with no sign of regrowth.

Can anyone help me fix my topical only regime or adapt it slightly

thanks

why don't you try dutasteride? i know you want topicals but it's possible that you won't get those effects on dutasteride that you did on finasteride. they are two different drugs.

as for topicals, look into revivogen.

I thought dutasteride was just a different concerntration of finesteride??? am more than likely wrong.
Previously used 1/4 tabs of proscar.

Would prefer just the topicals as I don't want any more chems in my system than is necessary and screwing with my hormones first time round grew me irreversible tits (well lipo surgery is an expensive option there)

will look into revivogen.... thanks for the heads up :)

No dutasteride is the active ingredient in Avodart. Avodart is a stronger oral dht inhibitor but people on here like Aplunk had sides on finasteride and no sides on dutasteride.

i don't really think any of the topical stuff except for RU58841(which is expensive and you have to mix it yourself and can be procured from a company in China) is as good as finasteride or dutasteride.

Other ingredients you can try (besides revivogen) are: Caffeine (0.5%) and adenosine (%1). Both can be added into your minoxidil, or another vehicle, very cheaply. Shown to work on a small scale.. but no large studies done.

Thanks Rage - I like that this can be added cheaply (I waste enough cash on this thinning cause without needing to add a heap more additional expense)

Can you help me out here a little with these ingredients (caffeine and adenosine). i.e. obviously I don't just add coffee to my minoxidil, where can one purchase these ingredients by themselves and how many mls of each should I add to my minoxidil?

Thanks again in advance

i know this is not authoritative, but someone posted that caffine reacts with minoxidil, making the minoxidil not work. I'm not sure if that is true. I wish I had done my organic chemistry homework.

One last question guys -

does anyone have an opinion on say dropping spironolactone altogether and then utilising say remox 3 or 4 as it both a growth stimulant and DHT inhibitor?

I am currently using Dr Lees minoxidil and to be honest the only minoxidil formulas I've had any minor success with is Dr Kleins (physicians hair growth) remox 11 lotions and minoxidil spray.

I'm not sure why when the minoxidil concentartion and acid solutions are pretty much the same.....maybe my introduction of spironolactone was not a good idea or maybe I've built up an immunity to minoxidil?
Any opinion would be appreciated on remox 3/4

cheers

Never heard of remox, but it's just minoxidil, azeliac acid and tretinin. Nothing special.. not to mention azelaic acid has no good evidence as a DHT inhibitor. This remox stuff sounds like a rip-off.

A "cheapo" option would be to use generic 5% minoxidil, and apply a small amount of 20% azelaic acid anti-acne cream after the minoxidl application.

Oh, and stick with the spironolactone. More evidence that it will actually do something.
