Topicals are a PAIN IN THE ***!

No big news I guess.

I'm only using spironolactone at the moment and ran out of it, so I reordered (Don't know if it helps at all, but still thinking "better than nothing"). The delivery took longer than expected so I had to go a week without any topicals.

All I can say: WHAT A RELIEF!

Not having to worry about showering before application, not worrying about how crappy your hair looks after applying, not worrying about coming home drunk at 3 am, washing out the toppik and applying that god damn irritating topical on your scalp.

It sucks. :dunno:

Don't worry if you're not using them every day..just stick with 'em. Or use something like Dermatopoietin Hair Protection System...just the 1-4 day product..which only needs to be used 4 days in a row- take the next 10 days off. Then back to the 1-4.

Or Bioclin Advance or similar products..which also aren't used daily.

well, about a month without topicals. the customer service of dr. lee (minoxidil.com) sucks right now... all those credit card problems, now they even write in mails that shipments may not arrive and they aren't responsible for that... great.

I agree, however i would rather go for an all topical solution then take finasteride or dutasteride. However thats mainly due to my own bad experience then anything. i find it easy enough to apply them to my hairline, temples and the top of my head, but its around the back of the ears or slightly below the crown etc i have a problem with as my hair is quite long. I feel far too much of whatever im putting on just gets wasted.

Also I'll bet they smell and feel much better on the hair!

I think if I do decide to go for topicals and I can afford it, I will definitely research your regimen a bit further Jacob! I keep trying to learn more and more about it in dribs and drabs but of course it has a certain degree of extra complexity over just decreasing DHT or using a simple growth stimulant!

My little brain needs time to take in all the new info xD

yea, I don't use minoxidil. I didn't notice any bad effects, but I used it only for a few weeks. All it does is thicken up existing hairs, and anything you thicken using it sheds away when you stop, so for me, it's basically a fancy Toppik.
I've read that it's bad on the skin (but that could be toss, as Timi once said it gave him a "Moon Face")

I don't like its smell and applying it is a PITA. And it sucks to cuddle close with someone and all they can smell is minoxidil.
All I use nowadays is finasteride and nizoral. I don't think a lady would think me much of a man if she came round and saw ROGAINE bottles on my bathroom cabinet

^ Agree with that, in fact I'm still not sure why minoxidil is touted so widely in the community and medical professions. It doesn't do very much at all, and at best buys you 6 months of time. You can't maintain with minoxidil.

The main drawback for me was the minoxidil flakes. I was having to get rid of those every couple of hours or so, and my hair wasn't even that long.

Topicals are not a pain. You don't have to cover every square inch with topical. Just use the dropper to draw lines about 1/2 to 1 inch apart. It will spread under your skin just fine. As long as it does not evaporate very fast, it will penetrate.

If you spread it very thin, it evaporates on the surface instead of going in.

Only looks bad if you lather it on or get it on the shafts.

Using a ton just costs more and gets more systemic. It will improve results a bit too though.
