Topicals and long hair

Im norwood 1.5, except thinning in the pattern of about a norwood 3. I dont want to use finasteride yet and I'd pretty much decided on trying out proxiphen once a day, using less than the recommended dose to offset the high cost, and see if it allowed me to thicken at the front, or just maintain it. However i've run into a big problem:

I've got hair around 3-4 inches and it's curly. The recommended dose of proxiphen is 1/10 of a teaspoon (and im hoping use less) but i can't seem to get it to cover even the temples and sides with the full recommended dose. My hair is wet when i apply as recommended, so i hope it spreads out a bit more than way, but its just so hard to tell. Does anyone know if it disperses in the skin to a degree?

I tried spironolactone cream, and with some good advice managed to apply it parting my hair. However, since my hair is curly, this is incredibly difficult and takes forever, and im still not sure if i cover everything. my long curly hair also looks awful with spironolactone stuck at the thinning front.

I was just wondering if there were some topicals that could be applied to my hair. I was thinking of sprays or liquids or something, as my hair seems to eat creams :(. I've heard prox-n is a liquid, and disperses very well, so i might attempt that instead of proxiphen. Fluridil was something else i was considering.

Any replies with advice for the longer haired types, would be great. Thanks a lot.
