Patent Summary (US20160081901A1 – “Compositions and methods for hair growth”)

WO2020154304A1 (2020) explicitly claims losartan (and other ARBs like valsartan) applied directly to the scalp (as cream, oil, gel, or even injected) prevents/treats alopecia, including pattern baldness.

Direct relevance to Androgenetic Alopecia: Perifollicular fibrosis and TGF-β overexpression are key drivers of follicle miniaturisation in androgenetic alopecia — exactly the pathway topical losartan targets (same as in the patents).

Argument: ARBs act as local vasodilators → increase capillary blood supply and nutrient delivery to follicles; also promotes tissue repair.

Actually there is another patent that uses it, so 2 patents mentioning it

Losartan is the most potent TGFB-1 inhibitor known and for this reason, scar gels use it.

It stops aldosterone, which therefore stops TGFB-1 from being created.
