Nizoral questions:

In some thread, you recommended 2% nizoral over 1% "just to be safe". Also, you think that it should not be used more than 2-3 times a week. Could you elaborate on both, please?

Revita shampoo (1% ketoc. + copper peptides + spin traps + more... they say) is recommended... 5+ a week!!!... What would you think that is on overall better, Revita every day or 2% Nizoral 2-3 times per week and Nano on the off nizoral days??

Curcumin tip:

I was having dinner at an Indian friend's place. At his bathroom I found a cream called Vicco, 16% turmeric. I asked the host, and his wife told me that it is really popular for Indian women as a beauty treatment, to protect skin from the sun and to light up skin shade. Some men use it for oily skin, and to soften beard. Turmeric is one of the staples of Ayurvedic traditional medicine, they said.

The basic cream is dirt cheap (1'5£ = 2'9$ for 30 grs, even cheaper buying in bulk). I have no idea of the % of curcumin in that 16% turmeric, and I don't know if it is cosmeticable acceptable in the scalp, (because it is indeed acceptable in the face, I guess that if applied carefully without messing with your hair, it should be fine). I am going to try it, nothing to lose. I don't like spironolactone skunk smell, and if I recall correctly a study posted by Bryan, this could be the best antiandrogen for anybody worried about testosterone increase due to dutasteride. Could it also be good to increase TGF of decrease IGF? (or the opposite, or whatever is good for hair growth. )

Thanks - I really appreciate your input here

I've been looking for something like this. I've heard that Indian women sometimes apply it to hair on their face to lighten and soften the hair growth.

jacobo,

Ketoconazole is supposed to remain in the dermis for 72 hours in theraputic concentration. But, if you want to use it every other day...........Im sure its fine.

The Revita is exciting and a step in the right direction. I wish Proctor could/would put an anti-androgen in his NANO for instance (or his prox-n), but the keto may not mix well with the other stuff he has in it. Revita sure is going to be pricey though.....

Topical curcumin had an anti-androgenic effect on hamster flank organs that was second only to green tea extract. Flank organs are apparantly easier to penetrate than the human dermis is though.................so I cant guarnantee they would be effective on us. Tell you how you might check though is to buy some and put it on half of your forehead one morning, and see if its less oily than the other half of your forehead at the end of the day. You could use a couple of kleenexes or something to wipe the opposing sides, and see if one was a good deal more oily. If the curcumin half was less oily, perhpas you have an effective topical anti-androgen.

Right now Im testing a topical tea tree oil/lavendar oil mix on my big toe (Im hairy) to see if it will decrease hair there over a three month period. Im testing a few other topcials too. I wouldnt mind testing spearmint tea topically also.

I really feel a good topical anti-androgen is a good place to start fighting hairloss. The curcumin would have the added benefit inhibiting TGF-beta and TNF alpha. That cant hurt. I hope you have success.

I put curcumin on my head and it is intensly yellow and will stain your fingers and clothes. Go with the GTE or apple poly. Eat the tumeric.

Or, apply the curcumin and then wash it out before you go out.

You can get tetrahydrocurcuminoids in a white powder form, which won't stain your scalp. They sell it at several DIY skincare sites that sell actives. I'm thinking of trying this in a topical with GSE and Apple polys.

I heard the clear form is a much stronger form, internally as well. I've been wanting to buy it. I hope it is not expensive.

Thanks for all the replies

An interesting point in that article about green tea that I haven't seen anybody talking about is that curcumin is another catechin of the tea. I found a cheap 10% green tea extract cream, around 10$ 50 grams. I don't know how much EGCG and curcumin are on it, but this is the stuff I am going to try in my forehead. If it works (skin absortion...) should be the ultimate antiandrogenic treatment, I mean, EGCG takes care of DHT, and curcumin of T, I am going to google some information about the composition of this green tea. I might have in front of me the RU killer

Got some white curcumin (Tetrahydrocurcuminoids) today. Will be attempting some sort of topical soon. Apparently it's much more soluble in alcohol than water.

michael i respect the approach your taking, although the thought of you applying several different concoctions to various toes does bring a smile to my face.

i recently bought some pine oil after reading a comment of yours on its effectiveness at reducing the hair on your wrist. did you apply it on its own or in a carrier? if on its own what vehicle do you think it would be effective in, as ive been putting a small amount in grapeseed oil along with various other essential oils. also why, if it was so effective, are you not raving about it? any progress with other topicals?

many thanks in advance
