how would you rate your grandfather's and father's hairloss? I seem to remember u saying that they lost two inches at most.

When my Dad died in June he was looking pretty sparse. Totally gone up front up to just before the curve of the top of his head. What was up there was whispy and white. He brushed this over to create semblance of hair on top. Behind this area was a bald spot that had some hair left still on it, but just a thin "film".

Grandfather died with more hair than my dad, but both were nonexistent from the front up to the top, and then thin.

I have been following their progress by old photos and asking relatives how old they were at the time. By my age, they'd both lost a couple inches off the front. My dad had lost that couple inches and begun to noticeably thin on top. It seems they both started the process around age 25 and by 30 were at this stage.

I too started the process at age 25 and have not lost a single inch on my hairline. Via the various treatments I've pretty much maintained my hairline completely, although as you can see from the pics I posted, there is some thinning. That was my goal and so far I've succeeded without Rogaine or anything other than DHT inhibitors.

While I don't know exactly how far I would have progressed without treatments, I know 100% for sure that it was going, and going fast, five years ago. I really believe a big help for me was Nizoral. I had such severe irritation and itching and redness on my scalp that my hair was falling out like mad from it. Controlling this alone helped 80% for me. I know for a fact neither my dad nor my grandfather had any idea that doing so might help, and I know for a fact both of them had this same problem. So im a big proponent of the logic that inflammation plays a huge role in speeding up the process of hair loss.

Im remote right now so I don't have photos I can post, but if this thread is still alive when I get home, ill do so.

damn.. sorry to hear that. he's in a better place now

and HairLossTalk.com does it matter whether you use nizoral 1% or 2%.. does 1 give less regrowth while 2 gives a better change of regrowth?

It's incredible how hairs can look different from one day to another.

Today I felt I had kicking *** hairs, Like NW0 or something.. yesterday I felt like I was shedding like a horse and If I was Norwood 7..

It's all in my head.

BTW, just to mention something funny.

My Grandfather died at 76 and at this time he had a perfect hairline, he was not even NW2. His son (My father) was NW3 AT 24. See how things can change from one generation to another?

I'm 24 years old, and i'm NW2.

My father is NW6 now, he's 49 years old. How can I predict my hairloss?

I have been on minoxidil, propecia and nizoral for 1 week now!

THERE'S HOPE !!!!!! KEEP THE FAITH Norwood'S 2 !!!!!!!!!! lol

i got totally taken by surprise...

my paternal grandfather died at 75, probably with more hair than 99% of men.

my father's hairline started receding in his 40's, but he still has all his crown hair (at age 65).

my maternal grandfather died in his late 20's with a full head of hair. Not much to go by there, but I have an uncle (mother's brother) who still has all his hair, and he's in his 60's.

i'm loosing my hair on my crown at 21, but still have a perfect hairline. oh well...

It's weird how when you're not losing hair that you don't notice other people's hairloss.

My Mom's bros both have receding hairlines. They are both 40+. My dad and his brother both started receding in their 20's. My dad was 22.

Weirdest part is that they all are receders, and i'm a diffuse thinner...

HairLossTalk.com, i was just wondering if attribute ur success with revivogen and spironolactone to the fact that u don't have much further to go? (ur not loosing much more hair) So many guys on here are destined to be norwood 8s, such a powerful thing that is hard to stop with ur regimen. Maybe this is why u can brush off the idea of shedding 100-150 hairs in the shower alone as no big deal?? just wondering.

HAH

I agree. There is a chance I will never get there with treatments (my did is all gone) but I still think about this.

With how fast I was going, everyday I wake up and see hair is a Festivis miracle.

Just an interesting side note here...

My Grandfather had full coverage until his mid 60's, although it was sparse...he died in his mid 80's with just wispy hairs on top...and it was a couple years after he passed away that I noticed the 'process' beginning for me-but before that,

I never even knew he had thinning hair.

It was always just my grandfather.

Once I started losing, then of course I would look at pictures and notice all these things. :)

It's like before this, I never even noticed anyone with thinning hair, let alone actual balding. Now though, it's like the radar is on for it....

Happy Festivus to you too, Cassin!

I am trying to lure my little brother into town so I can volunteer him as a victim for the "Feats of Strength".

It's a Festivus for the rest of us!
